PS5 Pro and PS5 Slim: This is how good Sony’s new consoles could look

I find it curious to think about all the time that we have been talking about PS5 Pro and PS5 Slim. You can’t blame me, even before the PS5 hit the market we were already seeing rumors and a wave of speculation centered on both consoles. During the last months, the information that has appeared about PS5 Pro and PS5 Slim has not been too relevant, but in the end, the interesting thing is that Everything seems to indicate that they will eventually become reality.

If you are still wondering why Sony would want to launch the PS5 Pro and PS5 Slim consoles, the answer is simple, in fact both would bring the same cause, that is, they would be a consequence of the same key factor, the lengthening of the life cycles of each new generation, and the need to fill “the void” that remains as a consequence of this longer life cycle. However, PS5 Pro and PS5 Slim will have different goals.

In that sense, PS5 Pro will be aimed at filling that void that PS5 will leave when it begins to suffer the passage of time. Exactly, said console will target the most demanding users that they no longer feel that the original model is capable of meeting their needs. By cons, PS5 Slim will aim to serve as more economical, efficient and compact option to those who have not yet bought a console, or who are considering getting the Sony system, but who have a limited budget.

Personally, looking at the shortage of consoles out there right now, and the absurd prices they ask for PS5 on the resale market, I think in the end It is likely that you will end up waiting for the launch of PS5 Pro and PS5 Slim, and that depending on what both consoles offer, I will end up getting one or the other, as long as the relationship of exclusives compared to the PC compensates me, of course.

PS5 Pro and PS5 Slim: These concept designs give us an idea of what they might look like

According to the latest information that I have seen, the arrival of PS5 Pro and PS5 Slim will take place on different dates. The first should be ready in 2024, while the second could arrive in 2023. These dates make a lot of sense, but they are not confirmed, so there is no choice but to wait for Sony to decide to make an official announcement, which, except for surprise, will not take place in the short term, as is evident.

We have a long wait ahead of us, but thanks to LetsGoDigital we can liven it up with a few high-quality renders that show, as we can see in the video, the designs that Sony could use to make its PS5 Pro and PS5 Slim. Keep in mind that they are only conceptual designs, and therefore both consoles could end up reaching the market with different designs. However, they are quite successful and retain some of the essence of the design used by the original PS5, so I would not be surprised at all if Sony used a good part of the elements that we see in the video, and in the images.

At the hardware level, PS5 Pro and PS5 Slim are also going to be very different. The first will be a more powerful version of PS5, although it will likely follow the approach we saw with PS4 and PS4 Pro, which means that the most important improvements would be focused on the GPU. That new model may indeed be capable of moving games in native 4K and with higher quality ray tracing than PS5, but this is pure speculation (and optimism) on my part.

In the case of PS5 Slim, we can assume that It will be as powerful as PS5, but it will have internal changes that will make it smaller, cheaper and more efficient. In this sense, there has been much talk about the possible jump to a 6 nm APU, whose impact on the wafer would be lower, and which at the same time would offer higher thermal and consumption values.
