Pure Storage Updates Portworx Service Portfolio to Ease Kubernetes Adoption

PureStorage has updated its portfolio of Portworx services with several innovations focused above all on offering facilities for the adoption of Kubernetes. The first novelty that the company has communicated is the General Availability of Portworx Data Serviceswhich is the first Kubernetes Database as a Service (DBaaS) platform.

It has also announced the new version of Portworx Enterprise, a Kubernetes data management platform ready to work with multiple clouds and run mission-critical applications in production. Also, Portworx Backup-as-a-Service is now generally available for backup and restore of any Kubernetes service, including Amazon EKS, Red Hat OpenShift, Google Kubernetes Engine, VMware Tanzu, and Microsoft Azure Kubernetes Service.

With Pure Storage Portworx Data Services, which as mentioned is a Kubernetes Database-as-a-Service platform, developers will have support for critical databases. In addition, they will be able to implement services such as Cassandra, Kafka, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Redis or Zookeeper with a single click.

It has immediate compatibility with OnePlatform, and the company hopes to progressively provide it with more services. It allows the use of One API to manage databases and Manage One Solution for business assistance.

Companies using this database will only pay for the data services they consume. These can be acquired through two modalities: payment for use, or hours to consume, paid in advance. The platform can function as a multi-client service with application entry and exit control.

In this way, customers can control IOPS and bandwidth resources per application and user, and scale platform-as-a-service environments efficiently. Additionally, it offers comprehensive support for KubeVirt and Openshift virtualization on Kubernetes managed platforms.

The Pure Storage Portworx Enterprise data management platform offers, in its new version, the possibility of deploying Kubernetes applications in a 5G or edge environment, end-to-end IPv6 support and access to storage at the edge.

On the other hand, users of the platform can get a unified storage overlay solution with it, as they will have file, block and object storage services. This new version will be available throughout the second half of 2022.

As to Portworx-Backup-as-a-Service Now Available As we have mentioned, it includes automatic detection of Amazon EKS clusters, with the aim of providing customers with options to protect cloud-native applications with just a few clicks, as well as role-based access control (RBAC) and multi-tenant.
