QNAP Introduces TVS-h874 NAS with Intel Core Gen12 CPUs

The QNAP firm has presented the NAS TVS-h874, a high-performance storage solution that is equipped with Intel Core Ge12 processors, based on the Golden Lake architecture in its high-performance cores and the Gracemont architecture in its high-efficiency cores. This new NAS can be configured with Intel Core i9 Gen12, which has 8 high-performance cores and 8 high-efficiency cores, and Intel Core i7 Gen12, which has 8 high-performance cores and 4 high-efficiency cores.

Thanks to this configuration at the CPU level, the QNAP TVS-h874 NAS can offer high performance, and is capable of work seamlessly and optimally with multiple virtualized machines. They use a ZFS-based operating system, have PCIe Gen4 expansion slots, can work with M.2 NVMe SSDs as cache, and offer 2.5 GbE and 10 GbE connectivity, which makes them a very interesting option for demanding users, and also for companies and freelancers.

Andy Chuang, Product Manager at QNAP, commented that:

“The new TVS-h874 models adopt Intel Core hybrid technology which combines high-performance cores and efficient cores. Hybrid architecture design performance assigns each core of a CPU to a different task, which multiply the yield by 3.55 of the new TVS-h874 models compared to the previous models”.

QNAP NAS

QNAP’s TVS-h874 series of NAS is available, as we anticipated, in two major versions. TVS-h874-i7-32G version comes with processor Intel Core i7 Gen12 with 12 cores and 20 threadsand the TVS-h874X-i9-64G mounts a processor Intel Core i9 Gen12 with 16 cores and 24 threads. Thanks to the combination of high-performance and high-efficiency cores, they can handle different workloads more efficiently. They support up to 64 GB of dual-channel DDR4 memory, and support dedicated graphics cards.

The entire TVS-h874 family uses the ZFS-based QuTS hero operating system, designed to ensure data integrity. The ZFS file system is self-healing and supports WORM technology. (Write Once, Read Many Times). It also supports block-level inline data deduplication and compression technology to ensure optimal storage usage, faster data transfer, and longer life cycle of SSD drives. We can store up to 65,536 snapshots to record all the data and states of the system.

To round off the value offered by this new NAS we have the application store App Center from QNAP, which will allow us to download numerous applications completely free of charge.
