Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, specifications and keys

The San Diego giant has presented the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, a new Premium Midrange SoC that boasts a high-performance configuration, and that is emerging as one of the best options within its category. As you may have imagined, it is the successor to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1.

We start by taking a look at the CPU, and we see that the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 comes with a processor of eight cores divided into a total of three blocks. The first block features a high-performance Cortex-X2 core running at 2.91 GHz, the second block has three Cortex-A710 cores running at 2.49 GHz, and the third block has four high-efficiency Cortex-A510 cores at 1 .8GHz.

Moving on to the GPU, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 comes with a powerful gaming specialized Adreno GPU that supports advanced technologies such as volumetric rendering, variable rate shader and the Adreno Frame Motion Engine. According to Qualcomm, we can expect a performance improvement at the CPU level of 50% compared to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 and twice the performance at the GPU level. The improvement in terms of efficiency is more discreet, and can reach 13% in certain scenarios.

Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2

If we talk about sustained performance, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 would be able to offer 65% more performance in GFXBench Manhattan 3.0. under 1080p resolution, according to Qualcomm. Artificial intelligence performance has also doubledand the efficiency in this sense is 40% higher compared to the previous generation.

As for the rest of the keys, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 comes with an 18-bit ISP, supports sensors up to 200 MP, it supports “super-resolution video,” supports 4K recording with HDR, and supports advanced low-light photography technologies. It comes with a Snapdragon X62 5G modem, supports Wi-Fi 6E and aptX Lossless Audio. Qualcomm has also included the Trust Management Engine to improve security.

The smartphones that will use this new SoC will fall into the premium mid-range category, and therefore their price will be high. We do not yet have specific figures, but most likely they will be between 400 and 650 euros, depending on the manufacturer and the specific specifications of each terminal. This is an important detail, because in the end it may in some cases be too close to top-of-the-range models that will be one step above in terms of performance.
