Radeon RX 7000: an AMD employee confirms the arrival of Navi 3 GPUs engraved in 5 nm and 6 nm

We suspected it a bit, but AMD is indeed working on upgrading the Radeon RX 6000s. An employee of the firm has in fact let a small indiscretion slip through on his LinkedIn profile by mentioning the Navi 31, 32 and 33 GPUs. With the exception of the last engraved only in 6 nm, the first two will be available in 5 nm and 6 nm versions.

As AMD prepares to unveil the Radeon RX 6950 XT, 6850 XT and 6750 XT, the manufacturer is also working on its new generation of graphics cards. Not long ago, its CEO Lisa Su indeed confirmed for the first time that the RX 7000 will be available by the end of the year. She revealed only a few details about them: it is hardly known that they will be Hopper and Intel Ponte Vecchio.

There have been rumors about 5nm and 6nm hybrid nodes before, but no official information has been released about it yet. But an AMD engineer gave us the reveal on a silver platter. On his LinkedIn profile, moreover quickly updated to remove the indiscretionthis one confirms that the successors of the RX 6000 will be equipped with three GPUs: Navi 31, Navi 32 and Navi 33.

RX 7000s will have 5nm and 6nm GPUs

In particular, the engineer specifies the nodes of each of the GPUs. So, according to rumors, the Navi 33 will be the only monolith in the list. It will only be engraved in 6 nmwhile its neighbors will have 5nm and 6nm hybrid nodes. AMD will therefore use a Multi-Chip-Modules (MCM) design. In theory, the Navi 31 should correspond to the RX 7900 XT, while the Navi 32 refers to the RX 7700 XT.

Note that the employee also registers the MI300 accelerator to his list. Again, the latter would benefit from an engraving in 6 nm. It should therefore follow the MI200 series, the very one that marked the entry of MCM design at AMD. We don’t know much more about them at the moment, but they could well be pitted against Nvidia’s Hopper and Intel Ponte Vecchio.
