reduces RAM and processor usage in Windows without programs

It must be taken into account that a high consumption of these resources that we mentioned can translate into a significant worsening of the user experience of Windows. In addition, our productivity will drop ostensibly and we will not be able to work comfortably enough with the installed programs. In turn, all this can lead to crashes and malfunctions of the operating system that nobody wants to see on their computers. It is true that there are certain third-party applications that we can install to optimize and reduce said consumption.

But on many occasions our own control of Windows and the way in which we work with it in order to save RAM and CPU is more effective. In fact, it is all of this that we want to talk about next. Specifically, we will talk about a series of measures that you can take to reduce the consumption of PC resources in Windows without using external applications of any kind.

Release Windows startup

As soon as Windows starts by default, the system loads a series of own processes and applications that you consider necessary. In addition, some programs that we install later are also placed at the start of the operating system by default and by themselves. Many of them we will not need, but since we turn on the computer they are running in the background. This translates into a high consumption of RAM and processor.

windows start

To solve this problem we just have to open the Task Manager and go to the Start tab to deactivate those applications that we do not need to run from the start.

Uninstall everything that is not necessary

On many occasions it is the case that we fill our operating system with applications that we do not really need. In addition to unnecessarily consuming valuable disk drive space, they can consume both RAM and PC processor memory. The best thing we can do in these cases is to definitively eliminate those programs that we are not going to need in order to optimise system operation.

Disable background programs

Here it is very important to know that there are certain software solutions, many of them belonging to the system itself, that are constantly running in the background. We can see these by opening the application of Setting and placing us in the Privacy / Applications in the background section. Next, we find an extensive list of these programs that are in constant running and so we can deactivate them to save resources.

Turn off animations and graphic elements

One of the greatest attractions that Microsoft’s operating system offers us is the user interface that it makes available to us. However, there are certain graphic elements such as the animations available here, which make a high consumption of CPU and RAM. Therefore, if we have an old computer or one that is somewhat limited in terms of specifications, the best thing we can do is deactivate these elements, which are in many cases totally unnecessary.

Clean Windows desktop

Although it may not seem like it at first, if we fill the Desk of the operating system of folders, files and direct accesses, the consumption of RAM memory skyrockets. This is an element that we also use almost constantly and we have a bad habit of filling it with all kinds of information. Therefore, the most advisable thing to do in these cases is to clean the desktop and ensure that it remains largely empty. We can always leave some shortcuts or folders, but keep them to a minimum.
