Lupas Rename is a program with a Freeware license, so it is completely free, and has been developed to be able to change the name of a large number of files simultaneously, in order to organize large amounts of files. This software does not require installation, is portable and works by integrating completely into Windows Explorer. It has a wide range of options to be able to rename our files without too much effort, since we simply have to enter its base name and configure it with the desired auto-numbering.
Among its features, it is worth highlighting the possibility of renaming the files in recursive subdirectories, that is, on the files that are within a subdirectory. It also allows you to create and undo a batch file from a DOS console, as well as the ability to perform useful actions such as inserting text at certain positions, converting to upper or lower case, replacing strings, etc.
Another interesting function is the possibility of filter files depending on the length of the name, its date of creation or modification or creation and create advanced filters to be able to configure how the system files are displayed, as well as the hidden read-only files. Rename large number of files and folders at once
Once we run the application we find its main menu with an interface completely in Spanish (if we have chosen to download it with this option), which is divided into three sections. Select the files to rename
Next, we are going to add the files that we want to rename. To do this we look at the “Directory” option, where we can see the full address of the current directory that it shows. We can change it by clicking on the folder icon that is just to the right. This will bring up the full list of files. Next, we must select on which files we want the renaming to take place, since it can be from one to all. We just have to select it with the “Shift” key or if we want to select all or using “Ctrl + R” to select it individually.
Later we must look at the bottom where we can find three tabs named “Name” (changes the name of the files), “Extension” (changes the extension of the files) and “Numbering” (configures the auto numbering of the files). Within the Name tab we select the option that best suits us, such as “Replace with text”, “Replace text”, cut, insert, and so on.
The most common option may be to replace the name of all files with a new one for better organization. In this case we will use the option «Replace with text«, So we mark it and write the new name. After this if we look at the column on the right we will see how they would change the name of the files.
Make changes to the name and preview them
But of course, we are not interested in that all the files have exactly the same name, so we are going to click on the «Self-numbering»To be able to differentiate them. Here we mark the option After the name, and we can choose the number to start, the value to increase and fill with zeros. We can also mark if we want the value to be decimal, hexadecimal, etc. After doing this we will see how the results of the «Preview» section change. At all times we can change and play with the settings until we find the perfect combination that we need.
Once we have established the desired values and we have verified that they conform to what we are looking for, we only have to click on the button «Rename»Located at the bottom right.
