Universal’s new monster-based film will see Nicholas Hoult as the former real estate agent Renfield, in the homonymous film currently in production.
In addition to feature films dedicated to Frankestein, Dr Jekill and Van Helsing, Universal Pictures is working on the film that tells the story of RM Renfield, a character featured in Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
Nicholas Hoult will play Renfield in the film of the same name
The role of Renfield, in the new Universal Pictures movie, went to Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max / XMen), which will bring the particular character from the novel by Bram Stoker Dracula.
Portrait as a patient in an English asylum, RM Renfield he appeared both in Bram Stoker’s novel and in various film transpositions, always ending up becoming the servant of Count Dracula.
The capabilities of Hoult in playing the strangest and most particular characters in the films is high and the role of Renfield could be an excellent opportunity to further show his skill.
After the box office success of The Invisible Man, Universal continues to realize its Universe of Monsters with the production of Wolfman and Van Helsing. To these is added Renfield which, despite not being among the most flashy intellectual properties of the studio, will bring the right mix of humor and action to depart from the other films that will contain more horror elements.
The film will be directed by Chris McKay (Lego Batman, The Tomorrow War) on an original subject made by Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead), while the screenplay will be written by Ryan Ridley.
