Resident Evil 4 Remake looks spectacular, and its requirements are very affordable

Capcom continues to let itself be loved, and with Resident Evil 4 Remake it has once again shown that the Japanese company is, for the moment, the one that has best assimilated and executed the necessary keys to make remakes that can surpass the original titles. In this sense, Resident Evil 2 Remake is the best exampleand I still think it’s the best remake ever, at least to this day.

A few hours ago, the Japanese company showed new videos with real game scenes from Resident Evil 4 Remake, and yes, the game looks spectacular. The RE Engine has allowed a huge leap in graphic quality compared to the original version, something totally understandable since Resident Evil 4 was developed on GameCube hardware, a console whose GPU was, roughly, at the level of a Radeon 7000.

More importantly, however, Capcom has been able to not only keep the essence of the original, but improve it to take it to a higher level. This is clearly noticeable in that renewed oppressive atmosphere and terror that brings Resident Evil 4 Remake closer to the “fog” version of the original which, as many of our readers will know, focused more on psychological horror and never materialized.

Resident Evil 4 Remake

we also see new gameplay mechanics, among which the importance of the knife stands out, which allows us to get rid of attacks and avoid instant deaths from certain attacks, something similar to what we saw in Resident Evil 2 Remake. On the other hand, there has been an important dubbing change in cattle, which They no longer speak Latin Spanish and have a Spanish accent. It is normal, since Resident Evil 4 Remake is supposed to be located, like the original, in a town in northern Spain and, in fact, the beloved pesetas are used.

The story maintains the base of the original Resident Evil 4, but Capcom has introduced some modifications that in principle should improve the development of it, and make it deeper. The characterization of the characters seems perfect in general, and the dubbing looks good.

On a technical level, Resident Evil 4 Remake has been developed as an intergenerational transition game. It will not be exclusive to PS5, Xbox Series XS and PC as we originally believed, but it will also come to PS4. This has an explanation, and that is that in the end said console has a huge user base (between 110 and 120 million), and this represents huge potential sales that Capcom has not wanted to ignore. In the end, a company wants to make money, and giving up the PS4 version would have meant giving up an important source of income.

For PS4 users, this is good news., and it is also for PC users who have less powerful computers, since this has made the requirements of Resident Evil 4 Remake the same as those of Resident Evil Village. Nevertheless, for those of us who have a powerful PC, and for those who play on PS5 and Xbox Series XS it is bad newsbecause it means that Resident Evil 4 Remake will be weighed down by the old generation, as happened to Resident Evil Village at the time, a title that “the seams” were clearly visible.

Resident Evil 4 Remake

Resident Evil 4 Remake is coming to PC, PS4, PS5 and Xbox Series XS on March 24th. If we buy the PS4 version we can upgrade to the PS5 for free. To finish, I leave you a list with the requirements of the PC version. These requirements confirm that the game will use ray tracing.

Minimum requirements

  • Windows 10 64-bit.
  • Ryzen 3 1200 CPU or Core i5-7500 (4 cores).
  • 8GB of RAM.
  • Radeon RX 560 or GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card with 4 GB of graphics memory.
  • DirectX 12.
  • Ray tracing mode: Radeon RX 6700 XT or GeForce RTX 2060.

With this team we can play in resolution 1080p and 60 FPS with the “prioritize performance” settings, although Capcom warns that fluctuations could occur in scenes with a high graphic load.

Recommended Requirements

  • Windows 10 64-bit.
  • Ryzen 5 3600 CPU or Core i7-8700 (4 cores).
  • 16GB of RAM.
  • Radeon RX 5700 or GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card with 8 GB of graphics memory.
  • DirectX 12.
  • Ray tracing mode: Radeon RX 6700 XT or GeForce RTX 2070.

This configuration will allow us to play in 1080p at 60 FPS with high qualityalthough again they warn of a drop in performance in scenes with an intense graphic load.

There is an important error in the graphic equivalencies, because the Radeon RX 5700 XT is much more powerful than the GeForce GTX 1070. The correct thing would be a Radeon RX Vega 56which is the closest thing to said NVIDIA graphics solution.

It also strikes me that the requirements at the graphics card level for ray tracing are repeated, although this time differentiating with a GeForce RTX 2070. Maybe it’s a mistakebut at the moment I can not specify anything.
