RTX 3000: Nvidia boasts of having increased the price of its graphics cards

On average, the price of the RTX 3000s has increased by $300 over the previous generation, according to Nvidia. An increase of which the manufacturer is obviously not a little proud, according to its last meeting with its investors. Indeed, the shortage of components is not the only responsible for the latter.

Even today, it is very difficult, if not impossible, to find an RTX 3000 at a reasonable price. Admittedly, graphics cards are now at their highest price for more than a year, and prices have continued to fall since the beginning of the year. But, whatever happens, the last generation of Nvidia GPUs has experienced a significant increase compared to their predecessor.

“Graphics cards are more profitable than ever”declared not without a certain pride Jeff Fisher, vice-president at the greens. “According to our data, they are spending $300 more than they paid for the graphics card they replaced. » Of course, a good part of these 300 dollars are to be put on the back of shortage of componentswhich drove prices up exponentially throughout 2021.

Only 29% of gamers own an RTX 3000

But this is far from being the only culprit. Indeed, when it launched in 2016, the GTX 1070 had an MSRP of $379. Today, its equivalent version, namely the RTX 3070, is supposed to sell for $499 – which of course is not the case given the current situation. In any case, these are $120 extra that players have to pay to update their setup.

As one might suspect, the vast majority have not can’t afford to spend that much money. This necessarily affects Nvidia’s sales. So, only 29% of gamers are equipped with an RTX 3000. The rest are still content today with a GTX, the latest models of which date back to 2018. This data also corroborates with that of Steam, which reveals that the GTX 1060 is the GPU most popular among gamers.
