Rupert Grint wants to come back… but on one condition

Fans have been hoping for it for a while now. While the Harry Potter meeting moved the crowds, Rupert Grint says he wants to take over the role of Ron in a potential sequel. But on one condition…

Harry Potter at the Sorcerer’s Stone celebrated its twentieth candle last December. A very special anniversary, which had been celebrated on HBO Max with a special broadcast. The opportunity for the actors to find themselves on the sets of London, and for the fans to shed a few tears as they told anecdotes of filming and that they paid tribute to the deceased actors. But after this meeting, broadcast on SALTO in France, aficionados of the little wizard are only waiting for one thing, that Warner Bros confirms a return of Harry Potter and his clique on our screens.

If the studios are now concentrating on Norbert Scamander and Fantastic Beasts, the rumor of a ninth opus is persistent. Nothing has yet been announced by the firm, but we have the right to hope. All the more so when the actors themselves address this thorny question. This is the case of Rupert Grint, famous interpreter of Ron Weasley. During an interview for Good Morning Britain, on the occasion of the release of the third season of The Servant, the British comedian said he was quite up for it.

“I really don’t see a reason not to. I love this character, this world. It’s a big part of my life. I feel like a kind of belonging to Ron. I loved seeing the play, and it was really heartening to see someone else take on this character.”

Yes, but…

However, this potential return will only be made on one condition: that all of his on-screen partners are up for it. “If the others are ready, I think so”. Given the tenderness that the various actors still have for the saga, it is difficult to imagine how they could refuse. The only one who will probably have to be convinced is JK Rowling, who carefully monitors how Warner Bros uses the license. We can nevertheless imagine that Warner Bros will be able to find the arguments. Especially since a director has already shown his interest. Chris Columbus, director of the first two parts, confided there is little want to adapt the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

As a reminder, this is not a work by JK Rowling. Written by Jack Thorne, based on a story by John Tiffany, it follows the adventures of the three wizards several years after the defeat of Lord Voldemort. Now adults, Harry, Ron and Hermione must navigate between their respective jobs and their family life. The plot particularly follows young Albus Severus Potter, who steals a time turner to help Amos Diggory save his son. Alongside Scorpius Malfoy and Delphi Diggory, he will travel through time to prevent Cedric from experiencing a sad fate. But this time travel will have serious consequences…

All that remains is for us to pray that this project (or another one is not difficult) see the light of day; to see Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint one last time in the shoes of our favorite characters. In the meantime, we can find Rupert Grint in season 3 of The Servant, currently streaming on Apple TV+.
