Samsung and LG TVs will jump on the NFT bandwagon

The NFTs have gained great weight in 2021, and this year they are going to be great protagonists. For this reason, Samsung will have its own platform so that you can buy, exchange and watch NFT through its televisions. And LG wants to follow in the footsteps of its great rival.

During the presentation of their range of Smart TVs for 2022, they indicated that the most vitaminized models would have these digital works. «With the demand for NFTs on the rise, the need for a solution to today’s fragmented viewing and purchasing landscape has never been greater.” Samsung announced at CES. “In 2022, Samsung introduces the first TV screen-based NFT explorer and market aggregator, an innovative platform that lets you browse, shop and showcase your favorite art, all in one place.”

What are NFTs

Samsung NFT

In case you didn’t know, say that NFT stands for Non Fungible Token.. Tokens are units of value that are assigned to a business model, such as cryptocurrencies, which are fungible. In the case of NFTs, they have similar technology, but they are not fungible.

To clarify the concept, a fungible good is one that can be exchanged based on number, measure or weight. For example, your money or cryptocurrencies are fungible. Instead, heNon-expendable property cannot be substituted. A work of art, or an NFT is an example. If you have a painting at home, you can see it as many times as you want without it being consumed. And it cannot be replaced by another work because each one is unique. On the other hand, you can exchange two 50 euro bills without any problem.

Thus, NFTs are unique assets that cannot be changed or exchanged as there are no two equivalent NFTs, just like a work of art, but in this case digitally.

Going back to Samsung’s entry into the NFT market, 2022 models will feature an NFT Digital Art Center available on its Neo QLED family, The Frame and MicroLED TVs through an app available on the Tizen home screen. To do this, Samsung has partnered with the Nifty Gateway, which currently has over 6,000 NFT artworks from over 400 artists.

LG also has the same idea. Although it has not given many details, it is known that the company wants to incorporate digital works of art into its OLED televisions, but they have not yet said how they will do it.
