Samsung believes in a full box so much that it will double production

Foldable smartphones are becoming increasingly popular, and Samsung has taken notice. The Korean giant would also plan to double production of its next clamshell device, which it expects to sell like hotcakes.

Galaxy Z Flip 5 concept

According to Ross Young, one of the most reliable market analysts, Samsung has doubled the production of its next flip smartphone, the Galaxy Z Flip 5, compared to that of the previous year’s model. If Samsung had already managed to sell no less than 12 million foldable smartphones in 2022, this figure could well be doubled this year.

Ross Young expects Samsung to launch its two new foldable devices as early as July this year, rather than August as in previous years. This would notably allow the Korean giant to sell more devices at launchsince the latter would be more spaced out from the iPhone 15, expected next September.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 could arrive early

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of an early release for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5. Indeed, this year Qualcomm reportedly decided not to launch any new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 chips, which would have succeeded the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 found in the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4.

Samsung would therefore not have to wait for a new chip from the founder, and this time would use the same chip as on the Galaxy S23: a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 “For Galaxy”. It’s already a special version of the classic Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, with an overlocked main core. A third variant would therefore have lost interest this year.

A previous report also indicated that Samsung’s foldable smartphones could arrive as soon as July 25, and this event would coincide with the launch of the new Galaxy Tab S9 tablets and Galaxy Watch 6 smartwatches. It now remains to be seen whether the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is well on its way to hitting the sales targets set by the company, or else the company will end up with a large number of unsold smartphones on its hands.
