According to several Korean media, Samsung has reviewed its strategy for the Galaxy A, its mid-range models. Thus, the Galaxy A2X range could cease to exist as early as 2024, just like the A7X in favor of the Galaxy S22 FE.
While we are impatiently awaiting the official presentation of the Galaxy S23 on February 1, 2023, several information concerning the upcoming Galaxy A have been flooding the web for a few days. For example, we discovered the first images of the Galaxy A34 and A54, the brand’s next affordable smartphones.
We already know since September 2022 that this generation will be completed by the Galaxy A14, Samsung’s entry-level device. On the other hand, many rumors evoke the pure and simple abandonment of several variants of the manufacturer’s “value for money” range.
Less Galaxy A and more Galaxy FE from 2024
First of all and according to The Elec website, the Galaxy A2X range would simply cease to exist in 2024. In other words, the Galaxy A24, slated for launch later this year, will be the latest model in the lineup. According to the site, the idea behind this change in strategy would be to reduce the number of different devices in a single range, and in order to reduce development costs (and increase profitability by extension).
We also find this idea of clarifying its range, by avoiding launching a multitude of devices with too close technical specifications. In addition, the Galaxy A7X could also be put in the closet. Many rumors have already mentioned the abandonment of the Galaxy 74. In other words, the Galaxy A range would therefore be formed from 2024 from Galaxy A0X, A1X, A3X and A5X. We remind you that the A4X, A8X and A9X series have already been discontinued.
Moreover, and as our colleagues from The Elec remind us, the void left by the Galaxy A74 could be filled by the Galaxy S22 FE. The idea being to make the Fan Edition stamped devices the real mid-range smartphones from Samsung, and not smartphones with technical characteristics and a price far too close to the top-of-the-range models. This aspect notably served the Galaxy S21 FE, whose price and technical sheet were far too similar to the first S21 of the name.
