Samsung could surprise by introducing more OLED Smart TVs this year

Last week we were surprised when we saw the expected Samsung QD-OLED TV, after publishing the Samsung S95B on Amazon its price. On the one hand, nobody expected it to cost so little considering the technology of its panel. But also because everything indicated that the Korean manufacturer would have to postpone the launch of its first OLED models.

And it is an open secret that Samsung plans to launch two lines of Smart TV. On one side would be the Samsung S95Bthe most vitaminized model and that would have the QD-OLED panel that the Korean manufacturer has developed, and on the other hand we would see a second line of televisions with LG WOLED screens.

We even knew that Samsung intended to buy 1.5 million panels for its first batch of OLED TVs. These models would be cheaper than their QD-OLED, since they would bet on cheaper LG WOLED panels, surely those mounted by the LG B2 and A2. The problem is that Samsung could not reach an agreement.

We know that Samsung and LG sat down to negotiate for the price of OLED panels. The problem is that the manufacturer wants LG Display to sell its technology at a lower price than it offers to its parent company, LG Electronics. And, as expected, the manufacturer refused outright.

But it seems that the negotiations are coming to a good conclusion. Or this is what emerges from the latest information published by various korean media and in which the president of LG Display, Jeong Ho-Young has delivered good news by saying that LG and Samsung are likely to cooperate in launching organic light-emitting diode televisions.

«The possibilities are open in terms of the right conditions for OLED cooperation with Samsung Electronics.Chong told reporters after the 37th regular meeting of shareholders held at the LG Display Paju Learning Center in Paju City, Gyeonggi-do on June 23.

Although it is true that they have not confirmed the agreement, It is clear that if the CEO of LG Display says these words, it is because either they have already reached some type of contract, or they are very close to achieving it.. More, considering that both companies are condemned to understand each other.

On the one hand, LG is interested in a manufacturer of the stature of Samsung buying OLED panels, since the economic benefits, in addition to being a perfect way to attract potential customers, are high. And Samsung has no choice but to LG if it wants to release an OLED TV that doesn’t use its Quantum Dots technology.

It should be remembered that the price of LCD panels has been going up a lot during the pandemic, which is why Samsung decided to bet on an alternative to OLED, its recently released QD-OLED technology, in addition to launching a second line of cheaper Samsung OLED Smart TVs. Even the manufacturer has a website extolling LG’s organic light-emitting diode technology (their QD-OLED technology uses only blue pixels, not an RGB array)

And now, with the new announcement from the CEO of LG Display, it seems that the first rumors that pointed to the possibility of Samsung presenting its own line of OLED Smart TVs in June could be fulfilled. We will have to wait for the next few weeks, but everything indicates that the agreement between Samsung and LG is closed.
