Samsung: here is the list of Galaxy smartphones that will have 4 years of Android updates

Samsung will now offer 4 years of Android updates and 5 years of security patches on certain Galaxy smartphones in its catalog. Unsurprisingly, this improved software monitoring is reserved for high-end and recent terminals launched by the brand. We have provided you with a complete list of affected devices.

Samsung continues toimprove the software monitoring of its smartphones. Shortly before the official presentation of the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Tab S8, the South Korean manufacturer, leader in mobile telephony, has committed to offering 4 years of Android updates on certain smartphones in its catalog.

Until now, the manufacturer was content to promise 3 years of major Android updates to the most premium phones in its lineup. Samsung has also made strong security commitments. The Seoul giant now guarantees 5 years of security fixesagainst only 4 previously.

This extended software monitoring is reserved for the brand’s most recent terminals, such as the Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra which have just been unveiled. Other devices, launched in the course of last year or the beginning of this year, are also affected by this new effort. These 5 years of patches guarantee that your smartphone will be protected against new flaws discovered in Android source code or in the brand’s home interface. Besides, it is inevitable that Samsung will not offer monthly security updates during this 5-year period. After an as-yet-undetermined delay, updates will be pushed out on a quarterly basis.
