Samsung is working on a QD-OLED gaming monitor for the Odyssey family

During the last edition of CES 2022, the firm Dell announced the first gaming monitor with a QD-OLED display from Samsung. A model whose price has recently been revealed, which has been lower than expected. And now we just found out that Samsung’s Odyssey family of monitors will also feature a model with this technology.

As reported by various Korean media, Samsung Electronics is working on a QD-OLED monitor for the Odyssey family, the range of gaming monitors from the Seoul-based firm. A logical move, considering that it is already manufacturing panels of these characteristics for the Dell monitor.

Of course, at the moment we can not speculate on the possible date of presentation, since Samsung Electronics is having problems to reach an agreement with Samsung Display for the price of QD-OLED panels. The parent company wants its subsidiary to sell the sheets at the same price as LG’s WOLEDs, but obviously Samsung Display says that’s economically unfeasible.

On the other hand, the production capacity of QD-OLED panels is still very limited, and Samsung is still not sure if it will increase production, so we will have to wait until June of this year to have more information about it.

What can we expect from the first Samsung Odyssey QD-OLED monitor

At the moment we do not have informationAbout this new Samsung QD-OLED gaming monitor, but we can assume that it will have characteristics similar to those of the Dell model. In this way, we know that it will have a 4K resolution, in addition to a refresh rate of 175 Hz.

It should be remembered that the response time of the Dell Alienware model is only 0.1 milliseconds, making it the fastest gaming monitor in this regard. It should be remembered that OLED technology has the advantage of fast response speed, since each pixel can be turned on and off independently.

What is clear is that this Samsung Odyssey monitor with a QD-OLED screen is going to be one of the best options to consider if you are looking for a model to play in the best conditions. Its price? At the moment it is a complete mystery, so there is no choice but to wait for the Korean firm to present this enigmatic team.

Possible filing date

Regarding the possible date on which Samsung will present its first QD-OLED gaming monitor, At the moment we have no information about it, but we can speculate on the possibility that the Seoul-based firm bets on the IFA in Berlin, which will be held during the first week of September to present it.

In addition, it could take advantage of the idyllic setting of the largest European technology fair to finally present its QD-OLED televisions, in addition to the family of OLED Smart TVs that will feature LG WOLED panels. In any case, and as we have indicated, we will have to wait until Samsung confirms this date, so it only remains to have a little patience.
