On the occasion of a new Unpacked conference this Wednesday, August 10, 2022, Samsung has just lifted the veil on a new generation of foldable smartphones, including a Galaxy Z Flip 4, the best-selling clamshell device in the world.
In addition to the Galaxy Z Fold 4, the Galaxy Watch 5 and 5 Pro, but also the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, Samsung has unveiled everything about its Galaxy Z Flip 4, its new flip smartphone. Rather than revolutionizing the formula of the Galaxy Z Flip 3, Samsung has contented itself this year withmake small, fairly discreet improvementsespecially with regard to the autonomy of the device.
The Galaxy Z Flip 4 will be more autonomous than the Galaxy Z Flip 3
Last year, one of the main criticisms we could make of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 was its rather limited autonomy, which did not allow to end the day serenely. With its new Galaxy Z Flip 4, Samsung wanted to correct the situation by using a larger 3700 mAh battery, which is 400 mAh more than its predecessor. This is still compatible with 25 W fast and 15 W wireless charging. For this, Samsung has managed to reduce the space occupied by the hinge.
The battery is accompanied by an ever more energy-efficient processor, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Engraved by TSMC in 4 nm, this chip will significantly improve the autonomy of the device.
The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is almost identical to its predecessor
Apart from the processor and the battery, the rest of the smartphone is quite similar to what Samsung already offered on the previous model. We always find a 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display with a punch housing a 10 MP sensor for selfies. He is supported by a 1.9-inch AMOLED external displaywhich still displays your notifications and other information.
On the photo side, the smartphone still relies on a configuration with two cameras on the back, with a main sensor of 12 MP (f / 1.8) and one 12 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor (f/2.2). There are also two AKG stereo speakers, and an IPX8 certification for water resistance.
Price and availability
The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is available pre-order until August 25 at a price of 1109 euros for the basic version with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. You will then have to pay 1169 euros for the version with 256 GB, and up to 1289 euros for the version with 512 GB of storage.
Four colors are available: blue, rose gold, lavender and graphite. However, Samsung will also release a Bespoke Edition model, which will allow the customer to choose from over 70 different color combinations. The smartphone will be available at usual retailers from August 26, 2022.
