Samsung wants to reduce the cost of repairing its smartphones by 50%

Samsung plans to implement a new system for repairing its products, in order to make the operation much less expensive for the user. For that, the Korean brand could simply use second-hand parts. It would also be a way of making a gesture for the environment.

When a Samsung product is sent to the after-sales service, the manufacturer repairs it with new parts. In the near future, he might use used parts. In this way he would make a gesture for the planet while lowering the cost for the consumer, up to 50%.

It is the Sammobile site that specifies the terms. The manufacturer should put in place a system of recycled spare parts, used in repairs. Of course, they would have to go through strict certification. Thus, they should be of a quality equivalent to new parts.

Samsung wants to lower the repair bill

For the moment, we do not really know which products will be affected by this measure. Will the recycled parts only be dedicated to smartphones? Will other products, such as tablets, PCs or even headphones be affected? Anyway, this new system should be implemented very soon, i.e. in the second half of 2022. It remains to be seen how Samsung will communicate on the subject and how customers will welcome this measure.

There’s no reason they shouldn’t be in favor of it. Using recycled parts would mean a lower bill on arrival. We’re talking about a halving, all the same. In addition, this would contribute to the protection of the environment, an oh so important subject for many customers. It doesn’t matter if your new screen is used rather than new if there is no difference. A few days ago, Samsung also announced a program for US users. They can get spare parts for their Galaxy smartphones to repair them themselves. This measure would therefore be the logical next step.

Of course, we will keep you informed if Samsung announces the arrival of such a program. The environment and purchasing power being at the heart of the concerns, there is no doubt that the Korean company will bet on it in its communication.
