SAP will raise the prices of its support in January to compensate for the costs of inflation

SAP is going to raise the fees it charges for technical support in many agreements, with the intention of offsetting the increasingly high costs caused by inflation. The company’s proposal, according to The Register, is to adjust the support fee of its existing agreements Standard Support, Enterprise Support, and Large Enterprise Product Support«based on the respective local CPI«.

In line with standard company practice, the terms of SAP’s agreements allow the company to make an annual adjustment to the support fees it charges during its initial term, as well as for early renewal terms.

The company has apparently resisted raising maintenance and support prices for a decade, but now, “in accordance with the terms of our agreements, SAP will moderately raise the annual support fee for SAP support agreements to a maximum of 3.3%, or with the local CPI, whichever is lower, effective January 1 from 2023«.

The company has indicated that the increase does not mean «an increase in the listed prices for SAP’s support offering for new software purchases. Affected customers and partners will be properly notified with locally agreed contractual provisions«.

This announcement follows an important change in the financial area of SAP, which affects none other than its top manager. Last week, the company announced that has hired what is still the CFO of Airbus, Dominik Asam, to replace its outgoing CFO, Luka Mucic. Asam will also become part of the SAP Executive Committee, joining his position on March 7, 2023. She will then leave Airbus, and Mucic will leave SAP after more than 25 years with the company. The executive will remain a member of the SAP Executive Committee until March 31, 2023. Before joining Airbus, Asam worked in management positions at Goldman Sachs, Siemens and Infineon.
