Scale the Impact selects 20 projects with social and environmental impact

Danone and the platform for entrepreneurs, Social Nest Foundation, have selected the 20 startups that will participate in the first edition of ‘Scale the Impact’, the startup acceleration program that aims to promote growth and business opportunities for projects with a social and environmental impact and promote the inclusion of B Corp values ​​in its management model.

These 20 startupswhich have been chosen among 200 projects, operate mainly in the areas of sustainable and regenerative agriculture, specialized nutrition, circular economy and future of retail with the intention of providing solutions to the most urgent social and environmental challenges worldwide.

We face multiple challenges as people, companies and society and we are convinced of the transformative power of innovation and technology, because without them it will be impossible to move forward and achieve the transition we need”, it states Nicolas Cosqueric, IT & Data Manager at Danone. “Innovation with a purpose is the engine from which we will be able to lead this transformation and the selected startups demonstrate how technology at the service of purpose has a positive impact for people, their health and that of the planet, providing disruptive solutions to very specific problems but that generate a great positive impact”.

In that same line, Margarita Albors, founder and CEO of the Social Nest Foundation, states that “Startups need opportunities and financing to be able to develop their business model and build sustainable solutions with a social and environmental impact. With programs like Scale the Impact, we want to make it possible.”

Through ‘Scale the Impact’, selected startups will have the opportunity to receive financing and training in a hybrid format, through online and face-to-face training modules, in addition to establishing connections with top-level international investors. The startups that will be part of the first edition of ‘Scale the Impact’ are:

  • aonchip (Terrasa – Sustainable Agriculture): This startup is dedicated to designing and manufacturing IOT hardware to digitize the water cycle and fight against food waste globally.
  • Aquaactiva Solutions (València – Sustainable agriculture): of Valencian origin, this startup produces an ecological, innocuous and low-cost disinfectant on site.
  • Azolla Projects (Barcelona – Regenerative Agriculture): This project measures and monetizes the positive impacts of regenerative agriculture, with the aim of fighting against the adverse effects of traditional agricultural methods.
  • Bisari Agroinnovation (Granada – Sustainable Agriculture): its focus of action is found in finding solutions for spraying and pollination through electrostatic technology.
  • Boomerang Takeaway SL12 (Barcelona – Circular Economy): it has developed a digital container reuse system to eliminate the need for an initial deposit and to be able to track each container.
  • Darwin Bioprospecting Excellence (Paterna – Circular Economy): develops microbial solutions for recycling processes, reuse of waste and by-products of the agri-food industry.
  • FOODRATION4LL (Castellón de la Plana – Social inclusion): they are the creators of Naira, a platform with which to manage digital donations of food, through direct amounts from individuals and companies from any sector, which reach social entities in full.
  • ForestChain (Madrid – Sustainable Forestry): is a blockchain-based SaaS digital traceability platform for the timber industry, which aims to guarantee the traceability of timber and compliance with legal requirements, as well as facilitate sustainable forest certification and improve management and the productivity of the company.
  • Fregata Space (Barcelona – Resilient Agriculture): This is a startup whose business model is based on an innovative way of observing the earth to discover pollutants in the air and water.
  • Genbiome Applications (Pamplona – Specialized nutrition): this startup from Navarra has developed personalized postbiotics to balance the intestinal microbiota and improve diabetes.
  • gradhoc (A Coruña – Future of retail): they have created a vertical refrigeration model that can improve energy efficiency with the experience and algorithm optimization of facilities and consumers.
  • innogating (Lugo – Regenerative Agriculture): they are the creators of a smart watch for farm animals, capable of monitoring all the conditions of the animals.
  • InnoPlant (Granada – Regenerative Agriculture): This startup of French origin studies the microbiome of each cultivated soil, with the intention of selecting those microorganisms that have a positive action on it and reducing the use of chemical inputs.
  • myobium (València – Specialized Nutrition): through Artificial Intelligence, they discover the food parameters that influence the performance of athletes and personalise, cook and send food menus to prevent injuries.
  • Nucaps Nanotechnology (Pamplona – Specialized Nutrition): international biotechnological company that researches, develops and produces a new category of functional ingredients: microencapsulated bioactives and probiotics, with improved functionalities in terms of nutrition and costs, for a real impact on nutrition and human health.
  • Oscillum Biotechnology (Elche – Circular economy): they create smart labels to monitor the state of food. Its objective? Improve sustainability by optimizing the use of limited resources and reducing food waste.
  • plastics (Barcelona – Circular Economy): This startup connects companies and organizations from industrialized countries with plastic recovery projects from emerging countries.
  • Scoobic Group (Sevilla- Futuro del retail): is a designer of electric vehicles that aims to solve the problem of mobility in city centers by means of light, agile vehicles with load capacity.
  • swearit (València- Futuro del retail): they contribute to improving the credibility of brands in front of the consumer, promoting transparency through the exposure of the traceability of a product, providing evidence backed by Blockchain technology.
  • Sycai Medical (Barcelona – Health and well-being): this startup is a software based on Artificial Intelligence and Big Data for the analysis of medical images (CT and MRI), which locates, parameterizes and classifies pancreatic cystic lesions.

The program, which lasts three months, began with a Kick Off at 4YFN and will conclude with a Demo Day during South Summit, in which a jury will choose the winning startup, which will be endowed with a prize of €30,000.

In addition, ‘Scale the Impact’ also has the collaboration of B Lab Europe and B Lab Spain, who will offer general advice on the design of the program, relations with interested parties and access to B Lab tools, as well as other resources.
