Sega plays on words by presenting a PC that is as fast as Sonic, literally. The blue hedgehog had better watch out.
As a gamer, if you had a clear idea of what the fastest PC in the world would be like, stop it all. Sega saves you this trouble by showing in video a PC literally as fast as a roller coaster, a car, or a certain blue hedgehog. No, you are not dreaming, this computer is well mounted on wheels, and spins at full speed on the asphalt of a racing circuit.
In terms of specs, we are dealing with the model of the company ASRock, which has an in-house OC Formula 16 GB motherboard, as well as an AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT graphics card. For the processor, the PC uses an Intel Core i9-12900K chip. There is also 32 GB of RAM and a 2 TB SSD, enough to compete with the best models in the world. If this one hadn’t been tinkered with, it might have ended up being a really fast PC, in every sense of the word. Fortunately for us, Sega preferred to bet on the fun side of the situation.
The most astonishing thing is that the publisher has decided to make the machine win for its Japanese audience, via a raffle on Twitter. For the purposes of its video, Sega therefore took the route of the Mobara Twin Circuit, located in the heart of Chiba prefecture, in the city of Mobara. When not in use by Sega for a show of strength, the circuit is also used in full-scale automobile competitions.
Still no hardware in preparation
Following the publication of this video, many fans have been asking for a real machine from Sega, which has not been in trouble for many years. The latest console released under the company’s banner is the Dreamcast. Released in 1998 in the land of the rising sun, it is even one of the precursors of the sixth generation of consoles. Since then, Sega has focused on developing and publishing video games, most notably with its flagship Sonic franchise.
In addition, we learned a few days ago that Sonic frontiers, the open world game Breath of the Wild, should be released by the end of the year 2022. Still a year to go to discover this title which already promises a most epic adventure.
