On Twitter, the cast of Shadow and Bone announces the start of filming and the arrival of new actors in the Netflix production.
The first season of Shadow and Bone was a pretty hit for Netflix. Adapted from the eponymous novels by Leigh Bardugo, the epic fantasy has largely met its audience. It must be said that on the platform, productions for young adults are popular, especially when they borrow the codes of fantasy and fantasy.
Netflix therefore did not take long to offer him a second burst of episodes. A season that should be inspired by the second volume of Grisha, and plunge us into the heart of Alina Starkov’s fight against the dark forces of the Fold and the Darkling.
As a reminder, Shadow and Bone follows the adventures of Alina, a young cartographer who discovers an extraordinary power. In a country torn apart by the Dark Fold, a dark mass populated by monsters, she becomes the summoner of light. She is the only one who can deliver the kingdom of Ravka from this curse.
The Complete Six of Crows
On Twitter, the entire cast came together to announce the start of hostilities. Filming has just resumed in Hungary, in Budapest more precisely. In a video, Jessie Mei Li, Archie Renaux and Ben Barnes announce a season full of twists and turns, without revealing the details of the plot that will unfold in these eight new episodes.
On the other hand, they take advantage of this opportunity to present the new players who are joining the adventure. Thus, Jack Wolee and Patrick Gibson will respectively camp Wylan Hendriks and Nikolai. These new protagonists should cross paths with Alina as she tries to escape General Kirigan. The Six of Crows, main characters of the spin-off written by the novelist, are now complete. Lewis Tan Here and Anna play the twins Toly and Tamar Kir-Bataar, Grisha who will prove to be great allies for the young magician.

Behind the scenes, it is still Eric Heisserer who will act as showrunner. The creator of the series could also go back behind the camera, as was the case in the previous season. On the production side, Shawn Levy (Free Guy) is still attached to the project, as well as Lee Toland Krieger (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina).
A release in 2022?
Filming therefore began under the best auspices in Hungary. As the teams are now busy putting this new epic into images, the question of a broadcast date inevitably arises. As of now, Netflix hasn’t specified when we might be reuniting with Alina, Mal, and the whole gang. However, one can imagine that the way things are going, the date could be set later this year.
It will nevertheless be necessary to be patient since after the shooting, the post-production should take some time. Until then, we will enjoy discovering or rediscovering the universe on paper, with the different novels that populate it.
