SharePlay feature returns to macOS Monterey betas

sharePlay

Yesterday afternoon, Spanish time, the Cupertino-based company launched the first betas of the first updates that will arrive in the future of iOS 15, watchOS 8 and tvOS 15. But in addition, it also launched a macOS Monterey 9 betaRemember, it is not yet available in its final version.

The SharePlay function, which Apple retired from the latest iOS 15 betas (not been available with the release of the final version) and macOS Monterey, is back with the release of these betas, so we probably won’t have to wait long for them to be available.

SharePlay offers users the possibility to listen to music, watch TV or do an Apple Fitness + workout with our friends via FaceTime. The technology keeps all participants in perfect sync, while keeping individual options such as subtitles.

With the return of this feature, developers who want integrate the operation of your applications through FaceTime they can do it again.

Release of the final version of macOS Monterey

The reason why Apple removed this functionality in the latest macOS Monterey and iOS betas is unknown but at that time Apple claimed the functionality would be available in the fall, possibly with the release of the final version of macOS Monterey.

This movement has some logicSince to launch a function that is not available on all the devices on which it will work (since macOS Monterey is not launched at the same time as iOS 15), Apple has preferred to wait a little longer. Total, we already lived without that function, we can continue doing it for a few more weeks.

Regarding the launch of the final version of macOS Monterey, for the moment we do not know the date, but if the rumors that point to another event in the month of October are confirmed, it is more than likely that Apple match the event with the launch date.
