She-Hulk Lawyer: release date, story, cast, all about the Marvel Disney+ series

Disney+ continues to be the new gateway for Marvel fans. His next big series will be She-Hulk Avocado. But where does she fit into phase 4, and what does she have to say? Here’s everything you need to know about the series.

For many, many years, we spent our time wondering what would be the next hero to appear in Marvel movies. But today, everything has changed: since the arrival of Disney+, we can always have more hope. And for good reason: the Maison des Idées now allows itself to use even the least known characters or the least related to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to create new series. This is the case here of She-Hulk, the Marvel heroine who is the female penchant of the Hulk, but is far from experiencing the same adventures. Let’s look at its future.

The Story of She-Hulk

She-Hulk is also one of the characters created by Stan Lee himself, in collaboration with John Buscema. The latter appeared for the first time in 1980, and immediately had the right to its own series called “The Savage She-Hulk”. Note that in France, the character has been renamed miss hulk.

Knowing the origins of the accident that led Bruce Banner to become the Hulk, one might well wonder how a female version could have emerged. The reason is simple: Jennifer Walters is Bruce Banner’s cousin. When she suffers a serious accident, she receives a blood transfusion from the angry hero who makes her recover the same types of power.

Comics She Hulk

However, Jennifer Walters does not have the same ambitions as her cousin. She who was lawyer before her accident wants to continue living a relatively normal life. His comics are therefore generally lighter, or more oriented towards criminology (of which the heroine is an expert). She is also the legal advisor many superheroes.

His integration into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the She-Hulk: Lawyer series will be the first time the character has seen a live adaptation. This is an opportunity for Marvel to anchor its universe a little more in realism. The character is also destined to appear in more productions in the future, surely as a Daredevil-like support in Spider-Man 3.

How many episodes of She-Hulk will be available?

Like many other Disney+ series, She-Hulk: Lawyer will consist of 9 episodes. These will last approximately 30 minutes.

Kevin Feige described this series as “a half-hour legal comedy.” The first trailer for She-Hulk shows that it will also place some romantic comedy elements showing the young woman on a date.

She-Hulk release date

The series will air on Disney+ from August 17, 2022. As is the tradition of the platform, a new episode of She-Hulk will be made available every week. every Wednesdays.

Where does She-Hulk fit in the MCU?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is adopting a new heroine in the person of She-Hulk, so it’s only natural to wonder where this one will fit. After the events of Avengers Endgamewe are now in a whole new phase which is starting almost from scratch.

In this vein, She-Hulk: Lawyer is part of this new movement: Phase 4 of the MCU. We don’t quite know how the show stacks up to her yet, but we can already see in the trailer that she interacts with Bruce Banner in his merged form with the Hulk. The latter even had time to treat his bruised arm, that is to say.

We also know that the Abomination embodied by Tim Roth in the movie Hulk (where Edward Norton previously played Bruce Banner) is back. We had previously seen it in the movie Shang-Chi.

Who is She-Hulk’s great enemy?

SHe-Hulk Jameela Jamil

The actress Jameela Jamilwhich you probably discovered in the excellent series The Good Placeembodies the great antagonist of She-Hulk in this new series. This character is called Titania, a superheroine with superhuman strength. His role in the series remains very mysterious for the moment, since Marvel has so far only revealed the most “awaited” parts of the series, such as his romcom side or the link with the Hulk.

The She-Hulk Team

Unfortunately, She-Hulk suffered some postponements for lack of COVID-19, but filming was finally able to start in April 2021. It ended 5 months later, in August.

The series was created and written by Jessica Gao, who is best known as one of the screenwriters of Rick And Morty. To tell you the truth: the Pickle Rick episode was written by her. She also took care of the Silicon Valley series. Kevin Feige is obviously in the lot as a producer.

On the production side, we will find Kat Coiro for 6 episodes, and Anu Valia for the last three.

The cast of the She-Hulk series

  • Tatiana Maslany : Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk
  • Mark Ruffalo : Bruce Banner/Hulk
  • Jameela Jamil : Titania
  • Tim Roth : Emil Blonsky / Abomination
  • Renee Elise Goldsberry : Amelia
  • Benedict Wong : wong
  • Ginger Gonzaga : role unknown
  • Josh Segarra : role unknown
  • William Hurt : Thaddeus Ross

Has the main actress always said something to you? It’s normal: Tatiana Maslany, who plays Jennifer Walters / She-Hulk, was previously the actress star of the series Orphan Black. Yes: in the latter, she embodied all the roles! We can also count on the presence of cousin Mark Ruffalo, and Tim Roth back in the role of Abomination. The latter was seen in the film Shang-Chi, and should be quickly linked to the series.

Note that sadly, this will be the last appearance of William Hurt in Thaddeus Ross. The actor died on March 13, 2022 at the age of 71 from prostate cancer. She-Hulk should pay tribute to him during its broadcast.

The special effects of She-Hulk

When the first trailer for She-Hulk was unveiled, a little controversy was born around the special effects presented in the trailer. For many, She-Hulk is not really natural and the effect does not work.

However, you have to see two things. The first is that many people watched this trailer on YouTube, which always had high compression ratio. If you watch this trailer directly on Disney+, you will be able to see that the character’s skin (in particular) is not as smooth as one might see.

Secondly, this controversy gave rise to freedom of speech around working conditions from the Marvel stable. The Marvel Cinematic Universe employs many special effects companies around the world, and some of its workers have revealed harsh working conditions where the producer changes his mind like a shirt and does not let only a few days to the experts to develop yet complex plans.

This would explain why the special effects of the latest Marvels, even in the cinema, are not among the best in the industry, even compared to some of their previous films.
