A little less than a year after the announcement of the arrival of Sister Act 3, Disney seems to have found the director for the new film starring Whoopi Goldberg in the role of Sister Maria Claretta.
Sister Act 3 has found its director
According to what reported by Deadline, Tim Federle, mostly known as a co-writer of Ferdinand and having created the series of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series (don’t let me repeat it) was hired to direct this third installment of the saga, which will be based on a script signed by Madhuri Shekar.
Unfortunately, the information about it ends here, with the start of the shooting of the film which, at the moment, does not seem to be that close anyway.
The good news is that, as we know, Whoopi Goldberg will return in the third Sister Act movie, in the role that perhaps most of all allowed her to launch her career in Hollywood. The actress herself seems to be one of the main reasons why Disney decided to make the sequel, as told by Goldberg in an interview with The Late Late Show With James Corden.
With the original film grossing 232 million at the box office (really big numbers in 1992), perhaps it didn’t even take too much effort to convince Mickey Mouse.
