Six Feet Under: a sequel series is coming

According to what Variety recently reported Six Feet Under sequel series it would be developing (albeit embryonic) in studies HBO.

At the moment, the names of neither writers nor screenwriters connected to the project have emerged. Likewise, no plot has been decided upon, meaning that it could be either a reboot of the original series or a sequel series that will bring the show’s existing characters back to screen following their story to the present day.

Also as reported by Variety, the creator of the original series Alan Ball and executive producers Bob Greenblatt And David Janollari they would all be involved in the executive production of the new project. At the moment, however, it is not clear whether the project will go beyond the discussion phase, especially given that the ending of the original series is considered one of the best and most definitive of all time.

On the Six Feet Under sequel series there is still the utmost confidentiality on the part of HBO, who declined requests for comments from various interviewers. Even the representatives of Ball did not immediately respond to the requests, only partially exploding on the project and releasing only the little information that we have been able to give you so far.

Six Feet Under it aired from 2001 to 2005 for five seasons and 63 episodes. The show followed the lives of the Fisher family and their associates in running a funeral home in Los Angeles.

The cast included Peter Krause, Michael C. Hall, Frances Conroy, Lauren Ambrose, Freddy Rodriguez, Mathew St. Patrick, Rachel Griffiths and Jeremy Sisto. Richard Jenkins also appeared on the show as Nate Fisher Sr, the patriarch of the family who dies in the opening episode but appears in flashbacks and in the minds of his family members. The show also served as a launch pad for people like Justina Machado and Rainn Wilson.

The show has also won several Golden Globe, including the best drama series in 2002. It celebrated its 20th anniversary earlier this year, with the cast and creative team reuniting for a PaleyFest panel.
