At the beginning of this 2022 Trellix was born, a new company that emerged from the merger of FireEye and McAfee Enterprise in October 2021, after Symphony Technology Group (STG) kept the second for 4,000 million dollars, and with FireEye for $1.2 billion. But the new company did not have all the areas and divisions of McAfee Enterprise, since it was going to focus on detecting threats and responding to them with machine learning and automation. STG already said then that in a few weeks it would announce what was going to happen to the areas that were left behind, and it has already done so: they will form Skyhigh Security, a new company.
This will basically consist of the portfolio of products dedicated to security services at the edge that McAfee Security had. These include a cloud access security broker (CASB), secure web gateway (SWG), zero trust network access (ZTNA), cloud data loss prevention (DLP), data isolation technology of the remote browser, a cloud firewall and a cloud native application protection platform (CNAPP). At the head of the new company, as CEOwill be Gee Rittenhousewho was Vice President of Cisco and Head of the company’s security division.
Skyhigh Security was born, in the words of Rittenhouse, to «meet the growing cloud security requirements for organizations large and small. With most data in the cloud, and users accessing it from anywhere, a new approach to security is needed. Skyhigh Security has created a comprehensive security platform to secure data access and use through unified policies and data insights. Companies can now have complete visibility. and effortlessly control and monitor, as well as mitigate security risks, with lower associated costs. All this with greater efficiency and at the pace of innovation«.
For STG, the decision to split McAfee Enterprise into two independent companies allows «focus better on markets, very different«, detection and response to threats, and security services at the edge.
