So are the first cheap motherboards H670 and B660 for Intel

It is impressive how a rumor that seemed to be confirmed can be literally erased and contradicted at a stroke, where it is possible that the most prominent is the typical one: where I said I say, I say diego. And it is that if a few days ago we reported on the delay of the H670 chipset, now the first ASUS H670 and B660 motherboards that will reach stores are filtered.

The rumors that came to us from China about the cancellation of the H670 boards are in question, since it seems that Intel will launch these together with its sisters B660 and H610. Maybe as it happened with the siren songs of the delay of Alder Lake due to the nullity of stock of the DDR5 everything repeats itself and history turns towards a happy ending. How is it possible?

Well, this casuistry can occur for the first time in many years where the mid-range chipset surpasses the upper-medium chipset in price. And logically it is not because of the chipset itself and its costs, but because of the features that many B660 models will include.

It is rumored that the implementation of DDR5 in the higher-end B660 models will make these more expensive than those H670 with DDR4 and that this could be the main reason for the delay.

But what has been leaked today is not very aimed at this, but it is also true that it is only a tiny piece of all the cake that manufacturers have prepared after CES 2022.

In fact, what has been leaked by ASUS could perfectly support the first argument, since of the 4 models, two are better built and have more capabilities compared to the H670, specifically when compared to the PRIME H670-Plus D4.

Two ASUS STRIX models, a PRIME and a TUF: H670 and B660

Four are within different ranges, two for the H670 chipset and two for the B660, these models being the following:

  • ASUS TUF Gaming H670-PRO WIFI D4
  • ASUS PRIME H670-PLUS D4
  • ASUS ROG STRIX B660-A GAMING WIFI D4
  • ASUS ROG STRIX B660-F GAMING WIFI

Here we can see at a glance that the most expensive of the four is the last to be named, since only for the plus of including DDR5 it will already have an interesting surcharge.

Although the cost of each model has not been filtered, it can be seen that the chipset itself no longer matters, since they are really even, but rather the general characteristics that will determine the positioning in the value scale of each model.

Given this, it seems ruled out that Intel is not going to launch the three chipsets in unison, so as we say, it is expected that on January 4 at CES 2022 all the data of H670, B660 and H610, as well as all the manufacturers’ models and possibly the odd price, which we already anticipate that they will not be as cheap as could be expected in the vast majority of models.
