And now, taking advantage of CES, Sony has announced that the HT-A7000 (7.1.2) and HT-A5000 (5.1.2) soundbars will receive an update in late spring, 360-degree sound mapping.
What is Sony 360 Spatial Sound Mapping
Sony’s 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology has the ability to deliver the widest surround sound to date. The Sony HT-A9 is a new frontier in surround sound, which is capable of offering a true 360-degree sound experience.
This new sound technology called 360 Spatial Sound Mapping is a real novelty, and thanks to this you will be able to hear the sound from all directions. Sound field optimization intelligently detects the relative height and position of each speaker, once done, synthesizes sound waves and can generate up to twelve phantom speakers from just four speakers, so that the result is a 360-degree sound.
Once these devices are installed with the new Sony technology, you will be able to enjoy the sound to another level, because you will be able to hear even the softest whispers of the wind, just as if you were inside the movie, surrounded on all sides by phantom speakers within an optimized sound field. Thanks to these phantom speakers, the spatial sound field becomes larger and more enveloping. The HT-A9s also boast support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, so you can enjoy cinematic surround sound in your own home.
Adaptable to any type of home
And the best thing is that It will not be necessary for you to make changes in the placement of your furniture, nor will you need to find the exact way to place the speakers. Thanks to sound field optimization, the HT-A9 uses two microphones on each speaker to intelligently measure relative height and position. Thanks to this, the system is able to create twelve phantom speakers in the right place to surround the room with immersive 360-degree spatial sound.
When you go to activate the optimization of the sound field, you must go to the home menu of the television screen and enter Easy Settings. You can do this at any time, even after several months have passed. All four speakers connect to the control box wirelessly, so you also save yourself looking for ways to keep cables from being a hassle.
