Sony has improved the supply of PS5 to face the Christmas campaign

Buying a PS5 is still almost an impossible mission. The few replacements of stock that have occurred have always been insufficient, and speculation and scalping continue to do such great damage that getting a console at its recommended price is almost a dream.

It is no coincidence that said console is out of stock in the retail channel and that, however, we can find many units on the second-hand market at inflated pricesis the reselling business that has been harming consumers for two years.

Sony has been very successful with PS5, so much so that it has not been enough to meet the demand. Each unit that has reached the stores has sold out, but this inability to satisfy the market is not good for the Japanese company because, in the end, it is losing the opportunity to obtain more money, and it is making some users end up choosing to buy an Xbox Series XS or a PC given the impossibility of getting a PS5.

With this in mind, I’m not surprised by reports that Sony quadrupled PS5 shipments to the United States in September 2022. According to the news source, a total of 7.5 million kilograms of PS5 stock were shipped to that country during that period, a figure that far exceeds 1.5 million kilograms in the same month in 2021.

PS5

This is no coincidence either. Sony is preparing for the Christmas campaign, and that huge number of PS5 consoles that have reached the American channel should allow many consumers to finally buy a unit at its recommended price, and without having to face tedious queues and waits. I, personally, am clear that I no longer plan to buy a PS5.

Unfortunately we don’t have data on the European market, so I can’t tell you anything in advance. However, seeing the significant stock improvement that Xbox Series X has recently had in Spain, and the general drop in price that it has had in the second-hand market, I think that Sony has every reason to start getting its act together and improve the stock in our country, otherwise it could end up losing a significant amount of potential sales. And no, the packs forcing the purchase of games and peripherals for 829 euros do not count.
