Soon you will be able to make the dream of playing with the first The Witcher come true, and that?

The Witcher It is one of the franchises of the moment. Not only because of the Netflix series, which has already had two seasons behind it, but because of the endless fame he earned after the launch in 2015 of that colossal The Witcher III Wild Hunt that has captivated millions of users around the world on consoles and computers. Now, CD Projekt wants to remind us where the greyhound breed comes from.

A remake of an unknown

Although now we are all clear about who Geral de Rivia is, there was a time when he was a character that only the readers knew who had delved into the novels of Andrzej Sapkowski or, at most, those who had been lucky enough to cross the path of his first game, a The Witcher that landed quietly on computers back in 2007. A title that only came to PC and was relatively successful thanks to word of mouth among users.

It must be recognized that if you play a game now to that first The Witcher you’d be surprised how it’s evolved, but still, even though it wasn’t the best game imaginable, It had little things that were going to mark the series. One of them is its combat, very specific and personal, which allows us to use two weapons and is very precise when it comes to hitting enemies. A misguided attack that misses its target… and we could be dead.

The point is that now CD Projekt has announced that it is working on a remake complete of the game, of the first The Witcher, which is going to adorn with the very Unreal Engine 5, which is the one destined to move exclusively within the new generation of PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S and, of course, PC. This is the message published on social networks:

We want to do this right, so please be patient — it’s gonna be a while until we can share more details.

Recovering from the Cyberpunk 2077 fiasco

CD Projekt has experienced difficult times in the last two years due to the enormous fail which was the launch of Cyberpunk 2077. A title that was only saved on PC and Xbox and that was removed from the PlayStation Store due to its unplayability. Now, with patches and some more content, it seems that it is picking up the pulse but without a doubt returning to The Witcher It is a good remedy against the headaches that the Poles will have suffered at this time.

Now, in a post published on its blog, CD Projekt talks about «The Witcher is where it all started for us […] It was the first game we did, and it was a great moment for us then. Coming back to this place and remaking the game for the next generation of gamers to experience feels just as big, if not bigger.”

Needless to say We expect a bigger and better role in history (which in the first one was quite bland), bigger scenarios and obviously, an update of the whole lore that we then saw so much in The Witcher II Assassins of Kings in 2011 as in The Witcher III Wild Hunt in 2015. In the style of what Capcom is developing with the remakes his resident Evil that, although they maintain the essence of the originals, have been completely reimagined for an audience that right now would not accept certain conventions that were fashionable at the beginning of the century. Don’t you think?
