South Summit Biscay seeks startups with a focus on energy transition and industry 4.0

On November 10 and 11, South Summit powered by IE University, together with the Provincial Council of Bizkaia (Biscay Startup Bay), will hold a meeting of the entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem. Those entrepreneurs interested in participating may register, until next September 12, in the Startup Competition open on the South Summit website.

In this vertical meeting, South Summit Biscay will bring together the key players in the ecosystem around innovations related to the energy transition and industry 4.0 and will serve to show the world the talent and opportunities offered by the Vizcaya entrepreneurial ecosystemin addition to establishing bridges between the region and the rest of the world.

Startups related to these verticals from around the world, with special focus on Latamwill have the opportunity to participate in South Summit Biscay and achieve global visibility and real business opportunities through high-value connections with corporate leaders, experts and investors with an interest in these sectors.

From this competition will come the 25 finalist projects that will participate in South Summit Biscay. A committee of renowned investors and innovation experts will be in charge of choosing these startups, based on criteria such as: innovation, viability, scalability, sustainability or the team, as well as their interest for potential investors.

The grand winner of South Summit Biscay will automatically advance to the final of South Summit Madrid 2023. In the ten editions of the South Summit held to date, more than 800 finalist startups have participated, which have a survival rate of 90% and have already raised more than 9,270 million dollars of investment. In addition, 6 of them have become unicorns and 52 have starred in very interesting exits. Among the most outstanding, it is worth mentioning Glovo, Cabify, Jobandtalent, Wallbox, Devo or iWoca.

The choice of Vizcaya to host this vertical meeting of the South Summit is due to its position as a benchmark in the entrepreneurial ecosystem and the strength of the industrial and energy transition sector in the region. Starting in September, Biscay will have BAT, B Accelerator Tower, a center for innovation and advanced entrepreneurship connected to more than 140 international nodes. This is the second meeting of South Summit Biscay, after a first edition held omnichannel in February 2021.
