Spain becomes the fourth country in Europe in number of startups

The innovative ecosystem and emerging companies continues to grow notably in Spain. Mary Benjumeapresident and founder of South Summit, has recently participated in the 23rd edition of the World Knowledge Forum (WKF) of Seoul, South Korea). In this event, one of the most important political and business forums in Asia, Benjumea has shared the growth of the entrepreneurial and innovative ecosystem in Spain in the last decade, until occupying the fourth European position by number of startups.

“In 10 years of history, South Summit has established itself as a driver of the Spanish innovative ecosystem. yeseis Spanish unicorns in the last decade and more than 3,000 startups from all over the world participating in each edition they are a good testimony”, highlighted Benjumea, during his presentation. He also valued “The ability to attract talent and the generation of high-value connections between entrepreneurs and investors that has made Spain in the sixth largest startup hub in the world and the fourth European country in number of startups”.

The president and founder of South Summit has led the Spanish representation in the WKF, in which prominent figures such as david cameronformer Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, or Francois Hollandeformer President of France.

The World Knowledge Forum in Seoul brings together important figures from the political and economic fields to share knowledge, trends and generate transformation, innovation and economic prosperity. Since its first edition held in 1997, the WKF has brought together more than 55,000 attendees and more than 5,000 political and business leaders such as George W. Bush, Theresa May, Nicolas Sarkozy or Bill Gates, to promote growth and economic prosperity in a increasingly changing world.
