For a few days, Spotify has been the victim of an annoying bug that makes its player disappear. Reports are multiplying on Reddit and on self-help forums. The problem seems to come from the latest update deployed by the application and only affects users on Android, mainly on Samsung Galaxy and OnePlus smartphones.
While Spotify has been struggling with the stock market since the beginning of the year, a new bug has further tarnished its reputation. For the past few days, users have been pouring into Reddit and forums to report a problem with the player. The scenario is the same every time. Clicking on a song and a podcast starts playback, but without the player bar at the bottom of the screen. In addition, no player appears in the smartphone’s notifications menu. In fact, it is impossible to pause or otherwise interact with the content.
It seems that the problem only affects Android smartphones. According to the testimonies, the Samsung Galaxy and OnePlus phones would be particularly affected. What’s more, playback stops at regular intervals for several seconds, while some things are made possible, like playing over YouTube videos.

Spotify acknowledges that its latest app update is causing the problem. For now, no patch is available for download. The platform has requested more information from its users to try to trace the source of the bug. From the testimonies collected, it seems that most of the affected users are on Android 12.
We will therefore have to wait a little longer before Spotify deploys a corrective patch. For the time being, we have noticed that the only solution to make the player reappear is to completely close the application and then reopen it. If the player is present when you play a song, you won’t have any problems until the next listen.
