Squid Game 2: The creator of the series seems to have changed his mind about the second season

If you haven’t lived the last few weeks on a desert island, you’ve probably heard of the Korean series of Netflix call Squid Game. If you follow Justnerd you will also know that its creator, the director Hwang Dong-hyuk, did not seem to have any plans for the making of Squid Game 2, the second season of the series that climbed the top 10 worldwide and soon became the most watched series ever on the video on demand platform.

Well, now things seem to have changed.

The Squid Game creator is now considering a second season

Released on September 17, the nine-episode series features 456 people, all struggling with financial debt, playing deadly games for korean children in an attempt to win a cash prize and thus be able to repay their debts ..

Although the director Hwang Dong-hyuk initially claimed he had no plans for a second season, after the show became a major international success he seems to have changed his mind.

In an interview with Times , Dong-hyuk has stated that in a second season of Squid Game he would like to explore “The problem with police officers”. Potential new episodes would likely focus on Frontman being a former police officer, and how that led to his role in Season 1.

Squid Game 1

“As I was writing Season 1, I thought about the stories that could be in Season 2 if I ever made one: and one would be the Frontman story.”Dong-hyuk explained.

“I think the problem with police officers is not just a problem in Korea. I see it in the global news that the police force can be very late in acting on things: there are more victims or a situation gets worse because they don’t act fast enough. This was a problem I wanted to raise. Maybe in the second season I’ll be able to talk more about it ”.

Squid Game did not reveal how Frontman had his role in the organization behind the games. However, a huge subplot (over … without an end) was devoted to his brother trying to find him, believing he was a player and not one of the organizers. Understanding how Frontman’s character got involved in running the games would undoubtedly be fascinating.
