Stadia is playable on LG TVs

Stadia cloud gaming is now possible on the latest LG TVs. This is the first foray of Google’s service outside of its own platforms.

Earlier this year, LG and Google announced that Stadia would be available on the manufacturer’s connected TVs. While there are only a few weeks left before 2022, the two partners are finally offering the streaming game service’s webOS application! It was minus one, but all functions are available. A first for cloud gaming

Pro subscribers will be able to enjoy 4K, HDR and 60Hz, as well as 5.1 surround sound. As for free users, they will access their library of games purchased on Stadia directly on their smart TV! Unfortunately, it will be necessary to meet the compatibility criteria, which limit Stadia support to the most recent models from LG: they must indeed work under webOS 5.0 or 6.0, which in fact only concerns televisions released since. 2020.

In addition, it is necessary to have a solid internet connection (10 Mbit / s for the standard formula, 35 Mbit / s to play in 4K) and of course a compatible controller like the one from Stadia which will do the trick, but we can use a console controller (Xbox, PlayStation).

Despite everything, this is Stadia’s first foray away from a Google platform. The service has so far been available in the Chrome browser, on Android TV and Google TV, as well as with Chromecast and Chromecast Ultra. In fact, it is even a first compared to other cloud gaming platforms: Xbox Cloud Gaming is not offered on televisions, nor GeForce Now (of course, Nvidia offers its service from the Shield box, but it is not available on televisions. is not a telly).

Samsung is preparing its own game streaming service for Smart TVs under Tizen, while Amazon is developing Luna for Fire TVs. There is therefore an opportunity to be seized for Stadia!
