Star Trek: a biopic about creator Gene Roddenberry is coming

A few days ago it was celebrated the 100th birthday of Gene Roddenberry, famous American screenwriter and creator of Star Trek. What better way to celebrate the anniversary than through a biopic in his honor?

As reported by Deadline, Rod Roddenberry is working on a biopic about his father, a famous American sci-fi legend.

The biopic film on Gene Roddenberry it will not focus entirely on Star Trek, but he will go further, they show many aspects of his life.

Before becoming a screenwriter for TV, in fact, Gene Roddenberry was a fighter pilot in the USAF during WWII and World War II and later became a policeman in Los Angeles. As if that weren’t enough Gene, before reaching success with Star Trek in 1966, survived two air disasters. In short, a life that really deserves to be told!

Star Trek it was the scriptwriter’s launch pad, but it also made many actors become icons of science fiction and pop culture.

Among the names that stand out we find William Shatner (Captain Kirk), Nichelle Nichols (Lieutenant Uhura), George Takei (Sulu) e Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock). The original series was groundbreaking for its highly diverse cast, which perfectly reflected the inclusive worldview of Roddenberry.

There Roddenberry Entertainment, the production company managed by Rod Roddenberry, will produce the biopic along with Trevor Roth. While as regards the script he will take care of it Adam Mazer, winner of an Emmy Awards with the film You Don’t Know Jack – Doctor Death. The casting and the director are still missing, but it will only be a matter of time.
