Start Windows faster by disabling startup programs

And there are programs that are configured by default so that they open together at the start of the system. This is something that we can find useful to facilitate its use and access. This is something that can be quite annoying, so the Microsoft operating system has the ability to disable the execution of programs that start automatically at our choice.

To do this, it will only be necessary to follow a few simple steps, which will depend on the version of Windows that we are running on our PC. Of course, we must be extremely careful not to disable programs that are related to system security or Windows services. Therefore, we will deactivate only programs that we know for sure have been installed by ourselves. In case of doubt, it is always advisable to leave them activated and thus avoid any mishap or inconvenience that may affect the startup of the system.

Next, we are going to show you how we can disable the programs that load when the system starts, both for Windows XP, such as Windows Vista, Windows 7 and 8, in just a few steps.

Sometimes we install programs that load when Windows starts up in such a way that they consume more resources, something avoidable when they are not programs that we use frequently but only occasionally, so we are not interested in starting it together with Windows.

In order to disable the programs that load when Windows Vista starts, we must click on “Start” and “Control Panel”. Here we will select the option of «Programs» and «Change Startup programs».

This will make a new screen appear, in which we can select the programs that we want to disable when Windows starts. We only have to click on the “Disable” button that we will find in the lower right part. In this way the application will not run again at Windows startup.

Disable programs that load when Windows XP starts

Loading many programs at the same time can slow down the startup of our Windows XP computer, so the Microsoft operating system offers us the possibility of deactivating those that we do not use frequently so that they do not load automatically at the start of the system.

To do this, we must click on the Start button that we find in the lower left part of Windows and select the Run option. Here we write the command “msconfig” and press Enter or the “OK” button.

Next, a new window appears, where we must click on the Start tab. Here we will take care of disabling the boxes of the programs that we do not want to run automatically when Windows starts. We also have a button called “Disable all” in the lower right that is responsible for unchecking all the boxes.

Of course, we must be careful of do not uncheck system processes that are necessary for the beginning of this. Finally, click on OK to apply the changes. This way the unchecked programs will not run automatically when Windows starts.

Disable programs that load when Windows 7 starts

Starting our computer with Windows 7 should be a quick task, which can be diminished by including different programs that load at the same time as the operating system. This is something that we can manage and control easily by making some adjustments.

In order to disable the programs that load when Windows 7 starts, we must do click on the start menu located in the lower left. Here, in the search field we write msconfig and we press Enter or we use the keyboard shortcut Windows + R to type msconfig and press Enter anyway.

This will take us to a new “System Configuration” window. Here, we must click on the “Windows Start” tab. In this tab we will see all the programs that are loaded when Windows starts, so if we do not want them to open automatically we must uncheck each one of them.

Likewise, at the bottom right, we find the “Disable all” button, in case we want to disable all programs at once, thus preventing Windows 7 startup from slowing down unnecessarily. Finally, we click OK to confirm the changes and restart the PC.

Having numerous programs that load automatically when we start our Windows 8 computer can cause the operating system to take longer to boot. This is because it not only loads the system’s own files, but it also has to load the processes corresponding to these programs.

Therefore, if we want to deactivate the programs that load when Windows 8 starts, we will have to carry out a few simple steps. The first thing to do is to click with the right mouse button on the Windows Start button that we find in the lower left. This will bring up a context menu where we must select the “Task Manager”.

Next, we select the Start tab and a list of programs that start at the same time as Windows will appear. Now, we must go one by one, right-clicking on the program that we want to disable and select the “Disable” option.
