Steam lets you play for free with some new features

All their lives, companies that develop videogames have understood that there is no better way to sell us a title than by letting us test it before. Hence the old releases shareware from the 90s that barely let us enjoy one or two phases, or the demos, which have been a determining element on many occasions when it comes to deciding to buy. Well, Steam is now back at it.

We can now play for free

So things, Valve has decided to start a new form of promotion of some releases that are available to allow us to play them completely free without having to drop a euro, simply by accessing Steam to download the client and follow the same steps as if we had already checked out. Only in this case we haven’t done it…yet.

These are trial versions (the trial version of a lifetime) that only have one limitation: the time that they will let us enjoy them, which according to what has been seen in the first title that is part of this initiative, will not be more than 90 minutes. That is to say, a whole hour and a half in which we will barely have the option of enjoying a contact brief with controls, mechanics and whoosh, time’s up.

Dead Space Steam.

Needless to say everything we play we can save it in our profile in the cloud and continue, if we buy it, where we left it in this demo version, to encourage us to continue enjoying it if we liked it.

Free trials for a limited time

It must be said that, in the case of dead spacenot only will we have a maximum of 90 minutes of play at our disposal, but also the period to do so will be limited and you will not be able to enjoy it beyond May 29, Monday, at around 7:00 p.m. in the afternoon, which will be when Valve withdraws the possibility of traveling to the Ishimunra and experiencing in first person that disaster caused by some strange creatures.

for now the only game with a characteristic basket test is dead space and there are no alerts that put us on the track of knowing if there will be other developments in the future. What seems clear is that this type of initiative is perfect for those games that have not yet started and whose publishers want to give them a push to sell a few more units, also taking advantage of a small discount.

So now you know, if the 90 minute game test thing works with this deadspace, do not rule out that behind come other releases that are suspected of not having worked in sales as they should. As, for example, is the case of The Callisto Protocolfirst cousin of dead space and that his arrival in December 2022 with countless technical problems has weighed him down until now, which is just when they have already patched it and his gaming experience is really worth it.

Do you think it’s a good idea to let us try the games for free on Steam for 90 minutes?
