Take control of your mood with Apple Watch

Among all the general health and mental health improvements that have been included in the watchOS 10 software update, there is the possibility of taking control of our mood.

Mental health is as important as physical health for Apple

It is clear that Apple is not only committed to making improvements to the physical activity and fitness applications on the Apple Watch. He also attaches great importance to mental health. Although this function may seem simple a priori, it is one more way to create awareness about ourselves and our state of mind. In a world that is hyper-hectic and full of constant stimuli, it is sometimes difficult to pause and think about why we are feeling a certain way right now, what is really affecting our mood and why. Surely there will be many people who think that the Apple Watch is not necessary to do this type of reflection, and they are absolutely right in the world. However, for Apple Watch users who find it difficult to become aware of their mental health, perhaps this is a good excuse to start being more aware and consistent with the subject.

How to monitor my mood from the Apple Watch?

To begin with, you should know that this functionality is only available in watchOS 10 and that watchOS 10 is currently in beta. Although this beta is open to the public and you can install it on your Apple Watch without problem. The only thing you have to keep in mind is that once you update your Apple Watch to the watchOS 10 beta, there is no going back. That is, you will not be able to return to watchOS 9.

That said, let’s see how to monitor or keep track of our mood on the Apple Watch:

  • On Apple Watch, open the app Mindfulness.
  • Select the option of mood
  • Now you will see two options appear: Record how I feel right now and Record how I feel in general today. Choose one of the two options, the one you think is most convenient at this time.
  • When selecting any of the options an animation will appear and the status will be Normal. If you slide the digital crown You will see that you can navigate between the different moods and select the one that best suits what you feel at the moment.

The options are as follows:

  • Very bad, bad, somewhat wrong, normal, somewhat good, good, very good.

When navigating between the different options you will see that the animation and the colors of each one of them also change.

  • Once you decide your option, touch the icon with the “tick” which appears at the top right.
  • Now he will ask you about the emotions that define your state of mind at this moment. Select the options that you think are convenient. To confirm the selection touch the icon again with the “tick” up to the right.
