Yes, the fictional sports club that comes to life in the Ted Lasso (Apple TV) series seems like it could be in the game.

We want to believe the truth. At the moment everything is part of a rumor that gains strength with a capture made by a user of reddit, where you can see how on the EA website it appeared for a few moments AFC Richmond in the list of available teams in the search box when applying a team filter.
The name in question appeared when the user applied a search filter to the list of players posted on the web, since, in the Team field, within the Premier League, AFC Richmond could be found. And no, don’t try to search for it right now because it’s no longer showing up. So the question is, was it a mistake? A bug that won’t be in the game?
The possibility exists
If we take into account that Ted Lasso has reached a series of agreements with the Premier League to be able to use the names of the real teams and names of the players, a supposed collaboration with FIFA would make a lot of sense. Another explanation would be that the web programmers have used the name of AFC Richmond to test the database and the list of teams, and at the time of publishing the web they have forgotten to delete the funny name.
Be that as it may, we like to think that AFC Richmond will be present in FIFA 23, however, we do not know exactly how their integration will be and where their players could be used, since including them in FUT could affect the rating system, a unless the player points are simply anecdotal.

We’ll see if in the end we are talking about a specific collaboration in which the team is unlocked, or even it could be simple cosmetics as a shield, stadium, team name and chants for your FUT team. That suits us more.
In any case, at the moment the only thing left for us is to continue waiting to be able to get our hands on the new FIFA 23 and get out of doubt once and for all. Well, and also for putting the Richmond crest on us.
