Telefónica Tech buys the Spanish Geprom to advance in Industry 4.0

Telefonica Tech has bought a Spanish engineering company, Geprom, with the aim of advancing in areas that are related to Industry 4.0. The company is specialized in industrial automation and digital transformation of processes.

With this purchase, Telefónica Tech strengthens its Internet of Things (IoT) and Big Data division. In addition, it will add to its workforce the 40 employees that Geprom currently has. Until now, the company has carried out all kinds of tailor-made projects for companies in areas such as planning, production, quality, logistics and specialized maintenance.

The company operates throughout the entire value chain, from assembly line operations to the development of digital twins. Among other companies, it has developed all kinds of technological projects for Siemens or Volkswagen.

Gonzalo Martín-Villa, CEO of IoT and Big Data at Telefónica Tech, has stated that «The acquisition of Geprom will allow us to improve and increase our capabilities and offer a more complete and innovative service for the digital transformation of the industrial sector. At Telefónica Tech we have a portfolio of services focused on the digitization and security of the Industry, which will undoubtedly be boosted by the greater deployment of 5G«.

For its part, Darío Cesena, CEO of Geprom, highlights that they have always believed that «the success of the digital transformation of the Industry lies in working from the need of the factory to technology together with the talent of the people«. The manager also underlines that «Being part of Telefónica Tech will allow us to accompany clients towards the Smart Factory with more capabilities and services, by combining our expertise in Industry with its extensive value proposition and experience in said sector in areas such as connectivity, communications and infrastructures, key services to ensure the digital transformation of the industry«.
