Could Tesla launch its own app store soon? The rumors on the subject are becoming more and more insistent. Specifically, the hallway noises started in December 2021 when the manufacturer had just rolled out version 11.0 of the infotainment screen interface. Indeed, Tesla had notably added a customizable icon bar, hinting that more apps would eventually arrive.

And precisely, Sawyer Merrit, entrepreneur who is one of the builder’s investors, claims to have new information on the subject. According to internal sources, the manufacturer is indeed working on an application store similar to the Google Play Store or the App Store. “Rumor has it that something similar is coming soon for something four-wheeled that starts with a T,” he refers to the social network by sharing a video of Steve Jobs presenting the App Store for the first time.

Tesla is working on its own App Store

Teslascope, a service that allows you to obtain detailed statistics on your vehicle and which is used to closely following the news of the brand, has just added its stone to the building. On Twitter, Teslacope assures that Tesla has been working on this application store since May 2021. Additionally, Tesla’s App Store is expected to launch shortly before the debut of the Cybertruck, production of which has been pushed back to late 2022 early 2023.

Of course, and in the absence of official confirmation, this information should be taken with a grain of salt. Still, the theory of the application store made in Tesla holds up. The brand has always refused to include Android Auto and Apple Car Play in its electric cars, and offering its own Store would allow the manufacturer to further diversify its sources of income. As a reminder, Tesla recently made its Supercharger stations in France available to drivers of electric vehicles from other brands. Moreover, in February 2022, Tesla owners will be able to recharge their car for free, under certain conditions, however.
