While Tesla was unable to deliver vehicles such as the Cybertruck, Semi and Roadster on time, the company still unveiled new products for the Chinese market: microphones for car karaoke. Tesla had rolled out an update in 2019 allowing passengers in its cars to karaoke with the “caraoke” function. In China, this allows songs to be played on the central car screen using the interface and catalog of Leishi KTV, a karaoke software.

Just like the recent Cyberwhistle, the Cybertruck-shaped whistle, the microphones were sold in pairs as an accessory on the manufacturer’s official website at a price of 1199 yuan (167 euros). As you can imagine, the microphone quickly ran out of stock, and we don’t know when the automaker will be restocked.

How to use the new TeslaMic in the car?

As Tesla describes it, the TeslaMic can automatically pair with the in-car karaoke system. Moreover, it comes with a few dedicated sound modes to further enhance the voice of singers. As shown in the video below, the TeslaMic can also be used outside of Tesla cars.

In addition to launching its new mic, Tesla also rolled out a new Chinese New Year update that includes a feature to update the car rendering color on the infotainment system and in the Tesla app. In parallel, the Tesla map has been updated to show real-time traffic data on your route, and it can now suggest alternate directions.

For now, it is not known exactly when this new feature will be available outside of China. However, our Electrek colleagues discovered that Tesla has extended its American brand to audio products, which means that the launch of “Caraoke” could be imminent. In the meantime, in France, we could see that Tesla had recently opened up its network of Superchargers to other electric vehicles.
