Last year, Elon Muskthe whimsical CEO of Tesla, has repeatedly had fun mentioning Dogecoin, this cryptocurrency born of a simple joke, on Twitter. With his statements, the billionaire made the price of the digital currency fall or rise. At the end of 2021, Musk then promised to accept Dogecoin as a form of payment.

True to Elon Musk’s promise, Tesla has started accepting payments made in Dogecoin on its store. Fans of the car brand can therefore buy a series of derivatives by paying for their purchases with DOGE. Obviously, Elon Musk does not intend to stop there.

Tesla will accept payments in DOGE at its charging stations

On his Twitter account, Elon Musk announced that Tesla will accept Dogecoin as payment at Superchargers, starting with the new charging station in Santa Monica (California). Opened a few days ago, this station should quickly turn into a real leisure center for drivers of the brand’s electric car.

Elon Musk indeed intends to set up a real ecosystem around Superchargers. On Twitter, the billionaire announced the creation of a “futuristic dinner / drive-in cinema” in the Hollywood region.

Composed of 62 charging stations, the station should soon offer a 1950s diner-style restaurant, a bathroom for cooling off and an outdoor cinema with more than 100 films available. In the restaurant, the dishes would be served by waiters who only move around on rollerblades. In any case, this is what Elon Musk announced last year.

These resorts transformed into leisure centers would eventually be offered in other regions. Last year, Tesla also filed several patents concerning various and varied catering services, such as bars, restaurants, self-service or even a drive-in.

At the same time, Tesla is careful not to mention Bitcoin. After accepting Bitcoin payments last year, including for its electric cars, the auto giant had finally backpedaled. Under pressure from shareholders, Tesla has abandoned BTC payments, claiming ecological concerns. Subsequently, Musk pledged to return to the queen of cryptocurrencies, without putting words into action for the moment.
