A man from southern California who tortured a Chihuahuan puppy to death and posted the video online was sentenced Monday to two years in federal prison. Is about Ángel Ramos Corrales, 19 years old, who received the penalty for the aggression that occurred in February, in which fractured his puppy’s skull and ribs 4-month-old named “Canelo”, according to a statement from the Federal Prosecutor’s Office.
“The dog’s injuries caused him to continually fall on his head, and Ramos Corrales recorded a video of the injured puppy and posted it on his Instagram account, ”according to the statement. That same day, Ramos Corrales cut the dog’s throat, leaving a two-inch cut, and posted the video on Snapchat showing “Canelo” lying on the bathroom floor while Ramos Corrales said: “I’m insensitive” and kicked the unconscious puppy, indicated the Prosecutor’s Office.
Justice reached the young man who mistreated his pet
The Riverside resident man was taken into custody by police following multiple complaints from people who viewed the video. Agents found Ramos Corrales with fresh blood stains on his clothing and wounds on his hands, as well as blood splatters in a bathroom and bedroom, according to the criminal complaint.
Ramos Corrales said that the dog had turned “Temperamental” and had bitten him, “Which caused him to lose control,” according to his testimony. “Ramos Corrales called himself a ‘cold-blooded murderer’ and pointed out that he could not avoid hurting the dog,” the official documents indicate.
The puppy had to be euthanized
Ramos Corrales told police that he had smoked marijuana all day, according to a report filed with the court stating that he may have also used alcohol and methamphetamine. The government claims that Ramos Corrales tortured the puppy for two hours, “ruthlessly delighted in causing fatal injuries to Canelo, did not help Canelo in his suffering and cursed ‘Canelo’ as he was dying.”
Ramos Corrales pleaded guilty in June to one count of animal cruelty, which involves seriously injuring an animal, causing extreme physical pain, long-term harm or risk of death.
