The +50 Emprende Awards choose their ten finalist projects

The 10 finalist projects of the III edition of the +50 Emprende Awards have already been chosen. A total of 483 entrepreneurs, with a mean age 55 years, have presented 207 initiatives. In the coming days, the finalists will have to present their projects to the jury chaired by the professor and writer Leopoldo Abadía and made up of professionals and experts in the field of entrepreneurship and business ideas.

The +50 Emprende Awards are an initiative of Generación SAVIA, the Endesa Foundation project in collaboration with the Most Human Foundation with which they have been promoting senior talent and entrepreneurship in this group for more than three years, and the production company 02: 59 Movies. The awards, which have a economic endowment of 30,000 euros (of which 18,000 euros in prizes and another 12,000 euros in advisory services) will be awarded on March 1 at an event to be held in one of the LOOM Madrid coworking spaces.

Regarding the profile of the entrepreneurs of this third edition, we verified that the number of applications submitted was very similar between men (50.9% of the total) and women (49.1%). Regarding the state in which the projects are found, we observe that around 62% are “nascent” entrepreneursthat is, they are already taking the first steps to launch their projects.

The projects presented are of a very diverse type, and the twenty initiatives linked to technology stand out, with patents and utility models developed and registered by their promoters. Likewise, in this III Edition, there have been a greater number of projects focused on products than on services, especially in sectors such as commerce (29%); the manufacture of articles of various kinds such as clothing, footwear and accessories (17%); advisory services (14%); and services related to the arts, such as painting, sculpture and crafts (11.3%).

Selected Entrepreneurs

1.- Patrick of the Cave. (50 years old, Alicante). Former executive of multinationals in the food sector. The mission of his project, through its digital platform www.pdelacueva.com, is to market high-quality agri-food products made by small artisan businesses.

two.- Sergi Garcia-Alsina. (51 years old, Barcelona). Together with his father Juan García-Alsina (83 years old and a true promoter of the project, Clinical Head of the Hospital Valle de Hebrón and Hospital de Bellvitge in Barcelona), they have been granted a European patent for the mechanism that improves the comfort of the ski boot, providing a rigidity solution through an exostructure that does not act by compression: https://neuboots.com/

3.- Iciar Aresti. (60 years old, Oviedo). She is the promoter of the Añino Regina Merina project, dedicated to the production and marketing of garments and footwear with merino wool from Extremadura. One hundred percent biological, they minimize the carbon footprint, without using petroleum derivatives or heavy minerals.

4.- Curro Solano (61 years old, Cáceres). His project consists of a technological platform www.comersano.eu that offers its users the best way to find restaurants. They currently have 153 affiliated establishments throughout the national geography, which serve healthy and balanced food.

5.- Francesca Garrigues (52 years old, Segovia). She is the promoter of a project that emerged during the pandemic and called La Farm, located in the Segovian town of Granja de San Ildefonso, with the aim of creating a community by attracting new residents and visitors with exclusive accommodation and a new leisure and cultural offer.

6.- Celia Rivero (57 years old, Seville). She changed her long career as a senior executive to train in Executive Coaching, Systemic Coaching and Psychology applied to Image, driven by the desire to help improve the leadership of executives and the management of their teams. Thus, she has created her project www.celiarivero.com so that her clients gain confidence and security as a factor of leadership.

7.- Alvaro Rengifo (61 years old, Madrid). President of the AMREF Foundation, Princess of Asturias Award for International Cooperation 2018, and patron of the Créate Foundation, one of the entities that is working the most for entrepreneurship in Spain. He appears at the + 50Emprende Awards with a personal project: “My Biblio” that arises from a need and lack of coverage in the “Apps market”.

8.- Luisa Maria Bottle (62 years old, Madrid). Since 2002 she has been a researcher at the CSIC dedicated to research into rare diseases. Her project consists of launching a spin off together with a team of researchers with the aim of helping comprehensive care for patients with rare diseases.

9.- Anthony Sanchez (54 years old, Badajoz). IT professional with an entrepreneurial vocation. His project consists of an application to identify and interconnect health records, through a digital bracelet and microchip, essential for first aid in the event of an accident.

10.- Carlo Castellano (55 years old. Italy resident in Barcelona). She has launched the Park4DISC project based on a European Recommendation, a platform that aims to identify parking spaces for people with disabilities.
