the adaptation of the Playstation game finds a diffuser

Sony gives news of its adaptation of Twisted Metal. The series will air on Peacock and is expected to be a comedy.

After Unchartedand while HBO Max is developing a series The Last of Us, Playstation Studio has a new project in its drawers. The Sony subsidiary will bring a new cult license to our screens, during a series that will be broadcast on Peacock. This is Twisted Metal who is granted this honor, more than 10 years after the release of the last opus on Playstation 3.

As a reminder, the video game series follows the adventures of a character in search of a new beginning. To do this, he must cross a post-apocalyptic wasteland in order to deliver a special package. Born in 1995, the saga is based on a vehicle destruction system, the series should therefore give pride of place to races between cars.

Along the way, he should cross paths with wild marauders, including a deranged clown who drives an ice cream truck. Explosions, chases and cheeky characters, the program is rather enticing.

A comedy with Anthony Mackie

Contrary to what one might think, the series should not adopt a dramatic tone but rather positions itself on the side of comedy. At least that’s what Peacock announces.

“Twister Metal is a live-action series with half-hour episodes, a high-octane action comedy, based on an original approach by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Welcome to Zombieland)”

In the casting, spectators will be able to find a regular in productions of the genre: Anthony Mackie. The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Falcon is expected to play an important role, arguably as the title character. We don’t yet know who will play him, but we can count on Sony and Peacock to tell us more in the coming months. For now, no release date has been shared. Remember also that for the moment, Peacock is not available in our green regions, and that nothing indicates that it will be one day.

A ton of adaptations on the way

As we said above, PlayStation has an adaptation package to the program. After Unchartedwhich could well be entitled to a second opus, the firm will collaborate with HBO Max for the adaptation of The Last of Us. Previously announced for 2022, the series has finally taken a bit of a delay. It is not expected before 2023. Then it is Ghost of Tsushima who should afford a feature film. After last year’s announcements, however, we had no news of the project.
