Renewed before the announcement of the Apple M1 chip, the iPad Air does not yet benefit from the omnipotence of the Cupertino company’s home processor. However, this does not prevent this tablet version 2020 from being very powerful with the A14 Bionic which currently equips the iPhone 12. It is also at the moment cheaper than usual during the summer sales, since Amazon drops its price from 669 euros to 529 euros – for the rose gold color only.

To better understand the offer

  • Does the iPad Air 2020 perform well?

The iPad Air 2020 incorporates the A14 chip engraved in 5 nm, which is also found in the iPhone 12. Its fine engraving allows better heat dissipation and energy savings, while being more powerful than the previous generation iPad Air. You will therefore be able to navigate without slowdowns and play video games with the graphics pushed to maximum levels. The recent Apple M1 chip is obviously more powerful, but it is currently reserved for the iPad Pro of 2021.

  • What are the other characteristics of this tablet?

The autonomy is about ten hours, which is quite classic for an Apple tablet. However, the iPad Air 2020 is finally saying goodbye to the Lightning port, to accommodate a USB-C port that offers faster charging and greater compatibility with chargers. Connectivity level, Bluetooth 5 and Wi-Fi 6 are there.

Many Apple products are also compatible with this tablet, such as the second generation Apple Pencil or the 11-inch Magic Keyboard of the iPad Pro.

The 2020 iPad Air has changed its design compared to its predecessors. It now has a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina screen with rounded edges to get closer to the look of the iPad Pro. The Home button has disappeared from the front of the tablet, but not Touch ID. The unlocking button is now placed on the edge which simplifies use. iPadOS will also ask you to configure several fingerprints – the thumb for portrait mode and the index finger for landscape mode for example. Face ID is not in the game.
